Indeed. And that's a blessing. Note that the pets however evolved in environments where thunder did occur at least on levels similar to what we see in Cape Town including New Year's Day and Guy Fawkes. Thunder is part of nature. And so a bit of occasional firecracker noise should not be a major issue.

I put it to you that fireworks are worse than thunder, it's a different pitch and not constant.
Basically like a cricket bat hitting a door and a pistol shot - it's different sounds and pitches.

I live in Cape Town. The thunder we get once every 1-2years can be very loud. Louder than fireworks.
