I had to leave home early in the morning, like 5 AM. Got to the car, refuse to start, and the only indication on the display, cannot see remote key. When I tried to press that start botton, nothing. If took another car key, change the battery on the remote, same story.
Now on a older car you will at least get this sound. Battery trying.
But on this start/stop car, nothing.
So, I had to push the Kuga out off the garage myself , got the other car out and perform a jumper start. It worked, all of this done in the dark, alone. I should have think they should tell you on the screen, your battery is flat.

Start/stop cars are no different, if you never got a warning maybe it was the temperature or some fail safe?

Had a similar incident, bought one of those power bank jumpers and threw it in the boot.
Start/stop requires a lot more current, your car probably has an AGM battery, normally it’s fine if you’re driving about but if you’re doing really short runs because of lock down then the battery hasn’t had a chance to charge.

Rather disable it for short runs or take a highway drive to have it charge up properly.

You get capacitor jump starters and then also battery jump starters that are also USB power banks, like discussed here:

a Dead battery cost about R100 , that is what battery center give you. But on you tube there is someone , if you pay him he can revive any dead battery .

I used a 240v to 12v downstep transformer and started the van, then went and changed the battery after lockdown last year. Shocked myself quite badly touching a few bare wires though, not recommended!

Had to use the second car today that has not been used in just over 2 weeks and for the past year only once every other week for a very short school run. Battery was completely dead and its currently on the charger I bought a few years ago. Don't have jumper cables so just leaving it on the charger for the rest of the day. Hoping it's not completely dead and in need of a replacement.

what rich people feel like... "havent used this car in weeks"... no need to.... least they call a number and the battery is replaced for them.

You believe a dead battery can be revived? Once a batteries discharge plates are no longer effective that is it. they cannot magically work like new again.

Modern cars ecu need a certain voltage. Drop below this voltage and it will not even allow the starter to to kick in.
The same battery in a older car might still turn the engine over.

Aaaaa miss the old beetles. Could drive them without a battery.

They had a 6v battery, the only cars that wouldn't need a battery to start were ones with a crank which started disappearing around the 1930s??

Modern cars go nuts when the battery is flat. All sorts of warning light may come on.
I even know a poor lady who had her car towed to the dealer, who spent 2 weeks diagnosing the issue and sent her a massive bill, all because the battery was flat.

negative sir. The beetle I owned was 12 volt and with no battery with a push start you could drive with no battery.

Must've been a newer model, there was the ones from the 60s that had a small 6v battery. A friend had one of those in school in the 90s, was like wow look at this small battery.

Yes, yes they do, the odd things my Cruze was doing when it's battery was going. Engine even stuttered.

Modern batteries also seem to die without warning. A few weeks ago my car was fine one day and the next morning it was dead. Wouldnt even turn the engine a little. New battery and she was perfect.
