Fleeing robbers shoot mall customers

I was at Cresta Mall yesterday afternoon when Police arrested 8 criminals who were attempting to rob a jewelery store. These guys were dressed in suites, included 2 women and all were driving fancy German cars. The ladies were in a Renault convertible and the men were driving BMW 5-Series and Audi A3. Guess all those cars must have been hijacked.

There are lots of random crime.

Yes, but with crimes and robberies such as this one, home robberies and most "property" related crimes, 95% of the time its either an "inside" job or "inside" information which is utilised by these criminals. In all of these cases (robberies such as this one as an example) the investigation starts with the store employees, known associates and friends etc, and inevitably this results in the criminals being identified and tracked down. Crime is really not as random as one may think it is.

They should arm Mall gaurds, can you imagine the mall gaurds shot the robbers and killed them all!! would be interesting

I'm sure most mall are gun-free zones... ironically criminals does not seem to adhere to this...

A true gun-free zone has to have a place to store the firearms. It's quite safe to ignore those stickers on the window.

...going to mean jack**** if no one gets properly arrested, processed, dockets don't go away and actual sentencing with it being carried out.

Linden police on Tuesday said they are watching shopping centres after another possible attack in Cresta, Johannesburg.

Police believe robbers may have been targeting the Cresta shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon. But after a shopper spotted a potential suspect, who is thought to be one of the men involved in Monday’s mall robbery in Northgate, police quickly made their way to the scene.

Although no robbery was reported, police said with the help of community members they will be able to stop these criminals in their tracks.

A man, who was shopping at Cresta on Tuesday, said it was assuring to see officers respond so quickly.

“Police seemed to be in charge of the situation,” he said.

Security at shopping centres will now be under the spotlight again after several robberies in Gauteng were reported this time last year..
