I love travelling and tourism so this is something I will definitively look at.

Yes oh yes. This is amazing news. Hopefully it won't be a port or rehash of FSX code which is really beyond its sell by date. I'm also hoping for real time integration to real world satellite imagery of the entire globe without any add-ons required. It is possible since Microsoft run bing maps.

I think they are using Azure to do heavy lifting in terms of turning the maps from Bing maps into terrain with weather systems.

Been looking forward to a much needed upgrade to FSX, still rocking it to this day with a few mods. My favourite game of all time.

I have no interest in flying but this looks amazing. I look forward to seeing actual gameplay videos.

here is my next question,
with playing FSX for so long, do you think you'd be able to take control of a real plane?

Depends how you play, procedurally and or properly and if you use assists or not.

I'd be reasonably fine in light and historic aircraft I'd say. I don't bother with the large commercial jets as most people do and I tend to just randomly fly from airport to airport mucking about and making things difficult for myself so as to have a more challenging experience.

Question is, will 16 core's be enough for their shitty code?

I think this game will be based on a whole new engine and has a very good chance to be an always online service since it will be using Azure AI. It will be client-sided and server-sided I assume.

Honestly, I don't think so.

I flew a real plane when I was 16. Only flight sim experience and my friend 17. With his ppl next to me.

You'll be able to take off, manoeuvre in the air and maybe even land if you're patient. Feeling the plane is a bit different as first timers tend to grab the yoke while you actually fly small props with a very slight grip to feel what the air is doing. If you know VOR and the transponder frequencies stuff you might even professionally navigate.

Flight sims don't really go through check sheets and stuff so you won't follow proper procedure based on only flight sim knowledge.

A airliner. You'll be able to again turn and do the things, there's a lot of differences between them but in the air it's still a yoke or stick, rudder pedals and a throttle. But I doubt anyone with just flight sim experience will be able to even start one.

Theres a part of the community that try do it all properly with really well modeled aircraft (not talking about the stock airliners that come with FSX, but the paid for aircraft for P3D and X-Plane). With these, you actually have to know how to start the plane with the correct procedures. Before my laptop just couldn't cut it anymore, I was doing this on Vatsim. Filing flight plans, speaking to others acting as ATC, starting a 737 from cold-&-dark and doing the actual flight. You'd be surprised how accurate they can be. As for the flight models themselves, thats where I think most sim's struggle to get really real

Especially X-Plane, the only flight sim where you have so much effect from the control surfaces that you can loop a 747 in one second at full speed

The community models and sceneries are absolutely astounding, the accuracy and detail in their work is second to none.

Thats probably the stock 747 though - its beyond horrible. Granted, there isn't a premium alternative available. But I found some of the other aircraft did feel better. But, not being a real pilot, my opinion actually means nothing in that regard
