Flight Simulator 2020

New patch is available, and it has a massive increase in performance. Almost unplayable for me when it launched on medium graphics, now playing on Ultra with no stuttering at all.

Went from 98% cpu usage on a i5 7500 to 51% cpu usage so massive improvement on optimization and threading.

Did they implement dx12?

What gpu you using?

Latest patch for Flight Simulator is epic. My 2nd gen Core i5 with a 1050ti is running the game super smooth on medium the nasty stutter bugs experienced at launch. New flights load in under 2 minutes for me.

Yup, massive improvement. Can play 1080p ultra on my RX570 - except I need to turn building details down for densely populated areas.

Anyone done the Nice landing challenge?

Joystick - logitech extreme 3d pro
Does that have the 24 volt power supply for force feedback?
My Logitech Force 3D Pro does and I cannot wait to test it on this sim and see how it feels

No it's not a force feedback stick

Although there is a marked performance increase, the low CPU utilisation is due to your GPU bottleneck...

No its the other way around, cpu was constantly running far higher than GPU.

The GPU is running at about 60-70% where as the cpu was constantly at 98-100% before the patch. Now cpu is between 50 and 70% with GPU at a constant 80%

Graphics are amazing on the latest patch. It's like someone is painting the objects and environments as you fly. The stable frame rate makes taking off and landing possible at last.

Hi, thanks for all of this, but where and how do I this and the others to my Flight Simulator?
Thanks
Hi there

Well the first think you will need to determine is where you installed the games.

Mine was installed as C:\MSFS 2020\, but yours will most likely be different.

If you find it you should see the file structure as below. If you don't see the community folder then create it so that it looks like the below.

The downloaded community content you must be extracted from the zip into the Community folder.

So unzip the content and it should look like this if done correctly,

If you can't find the install folder then you can launch the game and go to options and enable developer mode. Then you will see a menu bar visible on top. In one of then it should have an option that says something like "watched folders", which will show you where you game is installed and where you community folder is.

Hope the above helps.
