Flight simulator - Saix server

No Flight Simulator is more like, just flying and getting to know aircraft--A real simulation of the real thing. You dont attack and fight ect..

It requires practise, but you should be able to get the hang of it in no time. The hardest things to do is Landing with a Boeing 747 and flying a Helicopter..

Hope to see you owes in the game and on SAIX.

Ask me.... I know.... :p
Used to be able to handle that beast easily when I first got it... I overshot the runway three times today :o

Well Local is local... You should be able to connect and play.. I'm not sure if it will work, but I'm positive :)

I tried it this afternoon. Used about 20MB an hour (although I was the only one on the server...).

Its not that bad, considering a 10minute Youtube Video is more than 20MB. So 20MB an hour---I can live with that.

Youtube vids generally run on around 45-60KBps (or 2.6-3.5MB per minute) as I've found, so yeah, it's not too bad. I had a latency of 27-33ms on a 384 line so it's really not bad.

Can anyone give me the information required for the TeamSpeak stuff for this? I am registered there but not sure which channel to use.

Well basically U can either make ur own channel under Unregistered channels or Use a Public one. I honostly think making a Temporary Channel is the best way to go. Since SAIX is busy setting one up their own TeamSpeak server.... according to fsx.co.za

There is NO official SAIX Teamspeak Local Flight Simulator server YET that I know of.

Here's a little Christmas gift to you all.

It gives me great pleasure to announce, that after a bit of arm bending I have managed to get SGS SAIX Game servers to offer ALL Flight Simmers a local South African based FSHost server to fly on.

We tested the server on 21 November, all works fine, and yes it went live

You can use either FS2002 & FS2004 & FSX ...the server is configured to accept any properly configured FSHost client.

NO MORE LAG ISSUES!

As you may know international lag issues have been a huge problem for all flying on international servers. You can now fly to your hearts content without it knocking your ADSL's international bandwidth cap.

Those days are over ,the new local server has a ping time of a mere 56ms here from Cape Town.

Have fun and enjoy, this is specially for all you South African flight simmers out there!

Please note this is an unrestricted server, that requires no password.

TeamSpeak channels are not available on it yet, but we are working on that. For now use your own virtual club's TemaSpeak channel if you have one.... if not use the chat function and always observe circuit traffic - don't bust into active circuits unannounced.

How to join Online Flights:

FS2002 and FS2004:

1. In FS: Go to Flights => Multiplayer => Connect
2. Player Name: Your Callsign e.g. ZS-ABC or for the ZV guys ZV-ABC ets + your First Name
3. IP Address: 196.4.79.42 and “Search”
4. Client Settings: Port No. 23456
5. Join
6. When connected, press “Enter” for Chat Window

NB!!!

Please don't start your flights on a threshold of a runway - but at the parking areas at airfields or at the gates.

The runway may be active when you join, so please observe this as a general rule.

Please remember , keep a lookout for other traffic, especially when approaching airfields, adhere to good airmanship always..please don't abuse it..

ZS Flyers fly every Wednesday and Friday night from 8.30pm onward...., you are welcome to join us.

Here's to keeping multi-player Flight Simming alive in SA...

Make sure if you are using FSX that you have read the basics here
www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/

:p:) I see my announcement made it to mybroadband.co.za.. verbatim.

Guys if you need help on this contact me via zsflyers at skycam.co.za

We fly every Wednesday and Friday... see http://www.skycam.co.za/zsflyers.htm for the evening's flight plan.

General rules apply - please stick to them.

Make sure you have opened the correct ports if using a router.

Don't start your flight on a runway - but at the gate or parking area at an airfield.

Teamspeak is used for air radio comms with other aircraft and ATC when available.

If we fly in SA, we use the freeware scenery of Aeroworx, you can download that for free from the internet. This is only for FS2004/FS9.

Most of us use FS2004. :)

Our own forum is down at the moment - but we are working on that...

Yup the mesh is there but not all the airfields.

By the way our group is called ZS Flyers.... once we get our forum up again I will post the link here. Our last hosting provider has dropped us. :(

In the mean time to join us on Wednesdays and Fridays please visit the link I posted before.

This is for the interim only.

A final note - please be responsible when flying on-line we have real wolrd pilots flying along as well. And the idea is to make the experience as real as possible for all.

Newbies are welcome, but please observe basic courtesy and regulations and enjoy the time with us.

If you know nothing about aviation, etc....you're still welcome...in time you'll learn the lingo. Just fall in behind the other guys and remember that when you approach an airfield , the traffic is usually a left hand pattern (anti clockwise) don't just bust into the pattern and fly to the runway threshold.

Oh and finally ,set crash damage OFF, otherwise as soon as you get near another aircraft your sim will crash.

I'm trying to answer FAQs on 4 forums as it is... so the rest I will explain once our own forum is up again.

Everyone is very welcome to join....

Main thing is not to start your flight on a runway.... I will post this evenings flight plan a bit later today.

Our SA group has been flying on-line for a number of years now, and thanks to SGS we now have a local server to do it on. Applause!

The flight plan will be posted on

skycam.co.za/zsflyers.htm

Please remember to read the port forwarding instructions

www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/faq.html

If you don't have this set correctly you will spoil the evening for all.

Look forward to seeing more join us in SA's virtual sky...

How would I know if my Port is Forward correctly?? If another player can see me flying and I can see them, does that mean my Ports is fine then???

Your port forwarding is set up fine- you can connect (If I remember correctly you were flying in a Cessna of some sort on Saturday).

FS2004 can only load .pln files from the create flight section. How are we supposed to load the .fsn files then? It looks like a Flight Sim Navigator file

I checked on the TS server, there's so many channels on there. Which one do I use?

Was fun last night, being my first time there. Will definitely be joining again on Friday.
