Hi ,

Ladies & Gentleman

Please fasten your seat belts , we are about to start the afterburners

Pleased to announce.

Found a file on V4ME and upgraded firmware on E220 this evening.

Updated like a dream.

BAM

7.2 on the dial

Due to rate of afterburn and an empty tank , was not able to push through to MACH 5

Please supply refueling vouchers for further testing :)

Well done V3G

the AV8ed one

Did you run the speedtest? (speed.vodacom.co.za).
Im pretty sure your connection is lying to you... common fault with windows reporting the max capability of the modem instead of the actual current speed.

Sorry...

What is the purpose of this thread exactly, and do you not realise that Vodacom has upgraded to but not officially launched HSDPA 7.2?

If you are relying on Windoze's connection icon to tell you the actual connection speed, you are barking up the wrong tree.

Yeah, i just returned, coz i JUST remembered that Voda upgraded 3.8 to everyone for free...

Maybe 7.2 is the new paid service?
Possible i guess... do us the speedtest anyway... please?

OK OK -- put a sock in it already :(

The only one barking here is YOU

This was indicated by the "Mobile Partner" App NOT Windoze

In the same spot it always indicated 3.6 previously

Lets wait for V3G to tell us the "truth" ..........

The point of the thread

Would YOU not also be happy to see an improvement on YOUR connection

Maybe V3G would be interested to know that all the "fiddling" of HIS MidnightWizard's is bearing fruit  :D

As for speedtests ........

Did you not read there about the "empty tank"

It wiill have to wait until some other priorities are taken care of

As per usual, your posts makes a much sense as an inebriated Klingon. :)

Not sure why you do this? Why don't you just write normal English and we can actually understand what you're trying to say? However cool you believe your writing style is, trust me it's just impossible to try and figure out what your trying to say and your writings end up coming across as the ravings of a mad man.

The 'connection' speed Windows, or Windows aps, report is irrelevant. Max speed is a factor of the maximum speed the modem can deliver and the profile assigned to your SIM by the network and will be the smallest number of the two. You can check your profile with MDMA.

Actual speed is a factor of many things and can only be checked with a speed test.

Sure I understand al this stuff

ALL I was saying is that where the "App" previously showed 3.6 it is NOW showing 7.2

NOW you can take that ANYWAY you want to -- we will see who is eating crow when you make the "OFFICIAL" announcement.

Will unfortunately be you.

1) We long ago reported here that the Vodacom network is 7.2 ready but we're limiting you to 3.6 at profile level. That means that the towers are all on 7.2.

BTW, that's EVERY one of them (couple of thousand), not just a 100 or so like some of the other networks. ;)

2) The speed reported by your OS or application is what it believes it can get. So with a 7.2 capable modem, it should report 7.2.

3) The actual maximum speed on a 7.2 device is whatever the profile is set. You're is currently set to 3.6. The PC app at best can query the profile speed, like ginggs does.

any news on a date & time that the 7.2 will be "tested" v3g?

OK well guess I will have to go and sell the wife so that I can get some top up and do some tests.

Any offers

PS ; HOW do you know "mine" is set to 3.6

PSS; Thanks for "popping" my bubble. I am starting to feel like a subscriber to one of those "OTHER" networks :)

Mine's been showing 7.2 for well over a year. I don't know that it means anyone will eat crow when the "OFFICIAL" announcement is made.

he knows because he:

- is a technical guy working at vodacom
- knows the profile is on 3.6 ATM

and lastly.....he knows because a E220 can only go as fast as 3.6 Mb/s :D :D

There is a firmware update for the E220 that will allow it to do 7.2 :)

You mean is it still being tested? Testing complete and fully operational.

When was the first time rpm tested our 7.2? Probably far more than a year ago.

Real question is when will we allow the profiles to be provisioned for subscribers? And what should any relevant products look like? ;)

As you are very well aware, I asked you via p.m. to post in a way that you can be better understood, you don't want to do that, so you cannot reasonably expect me to pay much attention to your empty tank and refueling references - especially when your 'tank' has enough left to post weird stuff on MBB.

Apart from improving your unintelligible posting, it would also be great if you could do more research - specifically Google for & read a lot more on a particular subject before posting gobbledygook.

You know how to p.m. me if you need further clarification.

This thread has run its course.
