I downgraded my platinum cheque account to a gold last month because I was not qualifying to earn ebucks. I have kept R10k in my cheque account for over 2 years to keep the fee saver thing going.

Today I get my first Gold statement and the monthly fee and transaction fee's are not credited. I moan and they say the downgrade lost me the fee saver option and of course, because FNB discontinued this, I can not get it back.

I am properly irritated. R10k going into the bond and I am going to downgrade the account to a flippen Easy account. Capitec will get all my transactions and money parking from now on!

Beware if you still have the fee saver - they are just waiting to take it away from you!

And rightly so. The consultant should disclose this information to you prior to downgrading, unless their aim is in fact customer-shedding. FNB never fails to disappoint.

So do I but not really the point. I've considered downgrading my platinum account cause I honestly dont notice the difference in service.

When the ebucks change happened i was going to downgrade from platinum but i inquired and was told i would loose the fee saver so i stayed put.

I asked when I sat in front of the consultant. She muttered that she didn't know if I would lose it and then asked me something else. Bottom line is that I was not informed....

I love FNB for their online banking - very easy. Heaven forbid you need to go into the branch though. Their consultants usually know nothing.

Their internet banking and App are superb. But yes, in branch is a dog show. My experience at Capitec made me feel like a private client - they were great!

Since Michael Jordan left as CEO, things have gone backwards at FNB

Moan on Hellopeter. I did that and they reinstated it for me.

I tweeted RBJacobs, who forwarded the issue to the branch who did my downgrade. Woman from the branch called and said "we have been asked to move you from PAYu (because that is where you go when they take Fee Saver away) to unlimited. You will pay R100 a month. I told her not to touch a damn thing and leave it on PAYU. I have already moved all of my debit orders to my Capitec account and can make payments for free using the FNB app so I will cap my monthly cost at the R31-50 monthly account fee.

I may still downgrade the account to a Smart account or Easy account....

I have put the R100 in charges down to school fees - NEVER TRUST A BANK!

This is why they win to me. I hardly need to go to the branch and the few times i go i think i'm just lucky to experience no issues.

So how does any of this tie in to a post that you made on the 21 April, stating that you'll be moving that R10k and debit orders over to your Capitec account. You already decided back then to do it, and now you're spinning a different story.

Seems like you're just looking for an excuse to have a little moan, because you already decided to move that R10k over in April already, meaning that your fee saver would have been irrelevant in any event. Unless you're crying about the R50 interest that you could have earned at Capitec in the past month...

I have been an FNB client since I was in primary school and without getting into the nitty gritty, I find their fee structure and increased difficulty to earn eBucks irritating!

So I walked into Capitec. My initial intention is to switch half my salary payment to them and move my debit orders to them as well. I will then move the R10k from FNB which has been parked forever to avoid bank charges. This will drop me to the minimum monthly account fee at FNB and I will use the Android APP to do all payments and transfers which is free. Capitec in turn will pay me interest on the R10k and this interest will be a lot more than bank charges from them.

I walked in at 8:15 and the branch was quiet. Took a number and sat for 3 minutes. Lady got the ball rolling but we hit a 45 minutes snag when the home affairs check did not back up my fingerprints and did not display a photo from their database. For 45 minutes the lady held on with FICA or whatever without assistance. Eventually she called a manager who overrode the process and we continued.

Thanks to all of the threads here I remembered to ask her to activate my card for online shopping and she set up the android app on my phone too. She then asked me to go to home affairs to sort out the info. I said no way in hell and she laughed and said it will not be required for the bank account to open. She then called the branch manager over who welcomes me and asked if everything was in order - nice touch.

So, I am a Capitec client. I have moved 2 out of 4 debit orders (bond and car still awaiting confirmation) and HR will do what they need to do re salary.

I am looking forward to this new experience..

I definitely intended to move it. But I kept it in until the next statement so that I avoided any charges. There is nothing wrong with that - I never played the system and the R10k has been in for over 18 months.

This post is about them not informing me that I would lose the fee saver by downgrading the account. Their terms state "if the amount in your account drops below R9k you will be charged PAYU until such time as the balance is above R9k again". That, to me, means I could move the money out, keep the benefit and have it resume if I ever decide to move that money back in again.

My bank fees would be more than any interest I earn on 10k. In addition, it helps me stay on level 5 on eBucks.

And this is why I stayed on Platinum instead of taking their upgrade to PC. Fee Saver on PC is 100k:wtf:

Well you should make a Fracas (As this is the new word for any incidents).

Consultants are FAIS accredited and therefore has to give you answers. Don't know is simply not good enough.

On the other hand, if a service has been discontinued then it is hardly FNB stealing something from you... if KFC discontinues a Streetwise Two it is immediately off the table, nevermind until you change your plan.

R100k! Madness, especially when considering the balance for Fee Saver on Platinum is R9K. The benefits of Privates clients is not 10 times better then Platinum.

Guess you made your mind up anyways. Am sure if you complained, they would have moved you back just like Abu.

Enjoy Capitec. All indications suggest its a great bank. For me, free banking (fee saver option), and the fact that FNB pays me ebucks beats anything any other bank can offer at the moment.
