Who is finding the FNB App to have been such a game changer in banking and all of a sudden its gone from 10 stars to -1.:thumbsdown:

The secure chat used to work like a bomb and now you get a response hours after the fact and/or you just get kicked out. Then I tried calling the bank and after spending ages on the call you are just kicked out.

What is happening or have they just gone the route of spectacularly poor service like every other bank out there. Is there anything I can do to bring their attention to the issue or am I just wasting my time. :crying:

Works great for me.

Do you work for Capitec by any chance?

Have to rename accounts just to make them appear at the top when making payments else I'll pay out of my CC and incur additional charges
Every time I open the app I have to agree to this:

The online chat help doesn't work and keeps jumping you around (I now use it via the laptop browser)
Setting up an app pin is broken
Apple Watch app doesn't work
App is bloated with zillions of submenus and navigating out of them takes you back to the home page and not the page you were just on
Home page customizations get reset and you can't save it so it's useless
Can't stop email notifications even though I have in app notifications turned on (have to make the notification amount some high amount)
You need to jump through hoops to receive ebucks
Paying your account fees with ebucks you have to do it manually monthly
FNB connect runs on Cell C and doesn't work in malls
Virtual Credit Card CVV reset every 10 minutes so you have to open the app everytime you pay someone
The date you actually get ebucks is all over the show. Is it the 10th? or 18th?
Some investments they still physically mail out the statement and you have to call them up to cancel it
Transferring between accounts still requires a reference like it's 1980
To change your in contact number you have to call them up. It's different from the one you can just change on internet banking.
I could go on and on.

Crappest banking app out there. Agree with all the frustrations you've listed and a few more.

FNB Connect now runs on on MTN.
Agree with the eBucks hoops and payout dates, but that's nothing new.
The virtual card CVV reset is literally the prime feature of the card.
My home page customisation seems quite stable (if you mean picking the tiles that appear)

Begs the question... has anyone ever interacted with a worse "chat" functionality than the FNB one?

Secure chat is the absolute worst, and they push that **** for every use-case.

FNB touted their app as 'leading class'. It's far from that though: I have a common-in-SA car that doesn't show up on their Navigate section - making disc renewals impossible. Their CC travel feature doesn't exist! After years of complaining and swearing every time I travel, it's still not there - meaning calling the bank every time I travel, and expensive phone calls abroad when they didn't apply the dates correctly. Other 'lesser' banks have this.

Chat is useless and has always been
Mine has always like scrolled alllll the way to the top every time I get a new message... which was real painful when trying to sort out an issue. lol

This is actually useful for me for accounting purposes because I can allocate funds to correct things when transferring from business to personal etc. Although having it non mandatory would be useful.

Very painful!

Buying prepaid electricity is "ok"... but I buy R1500 at the beginning of the month then sometimes like R150 for the last day of the month etc. When you change the amount dropdown the meter number gets unpopulated... I USED to be able to copy the meter number, change the amount and paste it back... that doesn't work anymore. So that's a pain.

Both the app chat functionality and the agents that help you are terrible and even basic stuff now can't be done in branch. A cynical take is that it is intentionally like that to add friction so customers access support less/give up and hence their support costs are reduced, some large businesses have done things like that before, it’s what happens when the bean counters and maximising shareholder returns take over the reins.

Switch to Android none of those issues on my app.

No they don't, still Cell C.

My favorite is the secure chat - I send several messages, wait, then the remote end closes the conversation as I'm not replying. Like ****, they're not replying...

There's also typically no way to report poor service from an agent, which probably tells you everything you need to know about how motivated they are to make the service better and help clients.
