FNB Banking App drive

When FNB recently announced its Premier, Private, and Private Wealth clients must use the FNB Banking App at least once a month to earn eBucks, it did not go down well with everyone.

The whole idea is freedom of choice, why force clients FNB???
I don't understand. Surely the choice lies in banking with fnb or not?

Fnb customers have been forced to jump through multiple hoops to earn eBucks in the past. Why the dissatisfaction over something so small? Unless you don't have a smartphone I suppose.

The usual tricks, advertise a personalized service, in which you get someone dedicated to you, trick you into paying for it, then discouraging you from using that service and rather using the app. Same thing happened the previous 2 years when they pushed premier packages because you got a private banker, just to remove it after 2 years, were one is now left with a group of consultants AKA call center again on the premier packages.

If you are paying those high fees on the top packages, I would be pissed if they were forcing me to not make use of the personal bankers that I am paying for. And as for reversing debit orders online or on the app, it's only if the value is less than R200, they secretly made that change after announcing to the public all over that they finally could also reverse debit orders online that other banks had been doing for a while, I think the R200 lock down happened within 1 month of the feature going live.

But hey, as an FNB client I am used to this type of service. The best experience was discovering on premier, before the bundle option existed, that for every single airtime transaction, you paid R1+.

But*you only have to use the app once a month right? How are clients being forced to not use their "private banker"

Access instant messaging, which will be used as part of the authentication process. This is not dependent on SIM cards and minimises the threat of SIM-swap fraud.

Transaction notifications can be sent from as little as 1 cent.
Those 2 reasons alone are reason enuf for me.

I do not have a smart phone so I will be moving my account and investments to another bank

The use of a proper HTML5 browser on a phone/PC over rides the need for ANY APP anyway.
Like the Windows 10 Mobile platform.☺

I reversed a R7,000 debit order a few months ago.

If you want a private banker, you need to move up a tier to Private Clients. Simple as that.

I get R2,000 a month back, and you?
Yeah, I don't get that much but I do get back quite a bit every month without trying.

I don't see what the big deal is: open your the app on pay day and pay your rent etc.

Not interested in getting more money back if you actually tried?

And that bank may at some point have a similar requirement to participate in their rewards programme.
These programmes are utilised to alter consumer behaviour.
Rather then do not participate in the programme.
Seems like a schlep to change banks for something like this.
Unless of course you go cheaper like capitec for example.
