FNB Banking Fees Increase

I suppose its costing (eBucks) them more now with all the new clients.

Does the Smart Cheque account give you eBucks? I've got a Platinum account, and the eBucks I earn pays for all my banking fees and even more. I basically bank for free, and get rewarded over and above that, so no complaints from me. Also, the earn rate on a Gold account is slightly lower than a Platinum account. I'm guessing the same applies to the Smart Cheque account, if it qualifies for eBucks at all.

Yes the account should, I mostly earn from fuel rewards and purchases made once in a while from partners with big rewards... maybe I should adapt my shopping to earn more ebucks.... but that would mean spending more.

If I remember correctly, FNB always revises their fees in June of each year.

Did not know this, banking hours.

Weekdays: Monday to Friday - 7am – 5pm
24th – 1st of every month - 7am – 7pm
Weekends: Saturday: 7am – 1pm
24th – 1st of every month - 7am – 3pm

Where did you see this?

I find this on their site:

FNB Branch business hours
Monday to Friday 09h00 - 15h30
Branches open 30 minutes earlier if the last day of the month falls on a weekday.

Saturday 08h30 - 11h00
Extended hours branches close at 11h30. A notice advising extended hours is at the entrance.

Note:
Some branches have extended opening hours (8am to 5pm). Please contact your specific branch to confirm.

Perhaps but there is the added bonus that FNB is not Standard bank. You can't really put a price on that.

Just made my morning :D

Wish I stayed on smart cheque, the benefits of Gold are not worth the extra R20pm

Gold accounts can be used to shop online. Smart cheque not. This was the main reason I changed over when FNB offered me the upgrade.

I had smart cheque (called silver at the time) was a visa cheque card just like gold.

My smart cheque card, apart from looking different, was basically the same as my gold cheque card. It even had a CVV number. But whenever I tried to shop with it online it never worked. Eventually I got annoyed and called FNB up and asked them. They told me that it won't work online. Maybe that's changed but that's what I was told and experienced.

Price increases are bleak. That said, I agree with (some) others that FNB still seems to have the best offerings for personal banking.
