FNB Black Friday outage

just tried my virtual card at Woolies now,
"see account issuer" was the error message, FNB is definitely down

hate to say this but Tymebank seems to be holding up

Which will obviously now affect the eBucks 100% virtual card spend requirement.

People dropping levels because they lost those points is going to cause a wall of schit for FNB.

yeah, its caused so many people to wail and cry their free flights and back rubs from FNB are gone,
my expectations were never that high anyway, so even if for instance they remove the starbucks benefit, I will hardly care,

its a nice to have, and should be treated as such, same with the 1 a month smoothies and the limited amount of ebucks I get now
nice to have, and appreciated, but not essential.

them dropping the ball on BF isnt a good look for them, and so it the empty words apologizing for it.

It's 80% not 100% what does suck is that the virtual cards are declining, but it's still being held.

Yeah probably. Mine is cause my wife didn't listen. It's like don't use your VC, but she tried using it twice. Luckily still only R600 total though.

Nedbank also not coping. Card Approve-It is accepted by Takelot but then transaction is cancalled. Then I receive an sms from Nedbank saying card put on temporary hold and I should contact their fraud department. Number in the sms. Now this is an opportunity for someone to fake the sms and direct you to a phishing site - someone in Takealot(?). Anyway rang the fraud department after waiting interminably and was told their server is down and it automatically puts the card on hold. I should just wait 15 min or so and try again. Did this and it still failed. This delay is not helpful if you are buying a bargain where the stock is low.

Just tried to pay at H&M; FNB instantly declines with the virtual card on Apple Pay.

FNB Black Friday problems persist

First National Bank (FNB) has been experiencing problems for over five hours on Black Friday, 28 November 2025, with customers unable to log into their online banking or make payments.

Several FNB Business Banking customers have also informed MyBroadband that they are unable to transact or access their financial information.

I feel for the business (a bit - they should move) but I do not feel for FNB one bit. With eBucks they are forcing people to use virtual cards, so if they cannot handle the volumes, that is on them.

Yep, FNB Enterprise too.

Authorisers have to use the app to login on website, and to authorise website payments.

"FNB said that while thousands of transactions continue to be processed, some customers may still experience intermittent access, but the matter is being closely managed to enhance capacity" - it's clearly been down since around 9am.

Like saying the ANC provides "intermittent service".

Funnily enough Apple Pay worked fine online, but Amazon where I have a direct Virtual Card kakked itself and I thought maybe it's some CVV fail which is why I went to the app to confirm only to find the entire thing dead.
