Fnb-Credit Card Application Declined

Banks should be able to take the risk,I actually feel the system is corrupt people who don't deserve it get in but people who do deserve it don't get in
Why should they have to take the risk? It's their money, they don't have to do anything they don't want to...

I'm just saying maybe the people who don't pay get in......

Just remove yourself personally from this situation and take a look at it from an external perspective.

You have an 18 year old with minimal work experience who (assumption here) is probably not earning a large salary. Therefore, their ability to repay any loaned money is likely to be questionable. They have a short (if any) record of receiving funds and making any sorts of payments, so there is no credit history or payment history to observe and judge whether or not they are likely to pay the money back.

Couple that with the propensity for parties and irresponsible spending that characterises that age group (a generality, I know) and you get the hesitance of banks to loan money.

Contrast that with someone who has been working for a while and can show, on paper, monies coming into the account and being paid toward monthly obligations (rent, etc) on time.

TL;DR - keep working, take care of your money and you will qualify for one when you actually can afford one.

I failed to get a FNB credit card till this day from the first day I was able to get credit they always declined me. Woolworths, Nedbank and Bluebean all wanted me and those non stop calls to take the card. Settled with Woolworths card which I still have today. Still get declined for a FNB card.... :erm:

I guess they just never really liked me. :(

Mybb has this reputation of advising ANYONE that wasn't credit not to take any credit because living a credit free life is awesome. Not everyone can afford to buy a for example a R12000 bed or a decent flat screen tv and if you can't buy it cash you need to save years for it so you can enjoy it for 2 months and then sadly pass away in a car accident. Yeah no.

They offered me a credit card when I first took it for an amount of 5k but I then then felt it wasn't needed and I was still starting up so wanted to feel worthy of something before I did make a choice and now its look like I messed up

Nah, your ignorance is showing here. Don't take it as an insult, it's not meant as one.

I get credit offers about 3 times a week. All it is is them saying, "Hey, we want o offer you credit!" "Subject to credit checks and approval first of course haha lol jk."

The fact you got an offer does not mean you qualify for credit, it simply means they have your email address and you have a bank account.

Na lol first day I went to take the account out in the bank lol I'm not here for fights but rather on the way forward

I wanted an FNB card so I could earn some Ebucks, but had no credit record at all. So, as others have advised here, I opened an Edgar's Account and applied for the card a couple of months later, which I got without issue.

However, it's not a fundamental human right that you get a card (obviously), and it's also not a conspiracy if you don't get one. It sucks, but so does much of life.

Also, as others have pointed out, be very sure you are not going to get sucked into using it for actual credit, outside of emergencies.
