The conspiracy theorist in me, thinks Pnp offered them a cash/cut offer to good to decline....Pnp is desperate it wouldn't surprise me if they resort to these type of tactics to save the ailing business.........Must have been one hell of and offer for FNB to jump ship
Also possible that Standard bank made a better offer to Checkers and they dropped FNB. But the former is more likely.

When eBucks started it was possibly the best rewards program available to consumers, and it was really worth your while. Every annual update to the eBucks program over the last few years has made it harder for people to reach level 5 and has yielded a reduction in value. FNB doesn't seem to understand what made eBucks valuable, and I sincerely question the mind that decided dropping Checkers in favour of Pick n Pay was the way to go. For myself and many others I am sure that the inconvenience of shopping at Pick n Pay simply isn't worth what you get back in eBucks. Aside from the fact that no Pick n Pay in the area can hold a candle to the local Checkers and Woolies.

Still not hard to be at level 5, there were one or two years where it wasn't easy, but recently it's been so easy.

So that's how you screw over your customers and bailing out a struggling retailer.
I shop at Checkers, so now forcing me to shop at PnP, a place I do not want to shop.
Why not have both? No thanks. Screw you guys, I'm going home.

This.

I closed down my FNB accounts because it no longer offers any value to me. Pick 'n Pray (Cos you better pray after eating something from their deli/bakery) smells like a fat womans arse and is dirty. No way am I gonna go there to shop.

You need to have personal debt with FNB to reach level 5, which pretty much makes it impossible for some

Nope you don't, I've only got a home loan with them, but even if wasn't there it would be only 1000 points less.

No you don't. You only need some savings there if you don't want to Payshap yourself 3 times a month.

I’m missing something then. I thought you are capped at level 3 if you don’t have a credit card or a fusion account?

May have been but doesn't seem like it's the case anymore
Though a fusion card isn't a bad thing, still trying to actually figure out whats special about it.

It's not that hard, I agree, but in my opinion they have consistently been removing the easy targets over the last few years. Some of the changes made sense - earning more eBucks when using a virtual card is a great way to drive adoption for something many people may have ignored - but this also came at the cost of earning no eBucks if the card machine didn't feel like dealing with contactless payments that day, for example.

There are also annoyances like essentially penalising you on eBucks points for using an ATM instead of inconveniencing everyone behind you by making you withdraw at the till instead. Safer for them, irritating for me. Perhaps that's a petty example, but I stand by it :)

It's a debit card with a built-in overdraft. You get the "convenience" of being able to over-spend without your card getting declined, they get the convenience of having that overdraft paid immediately when your salary comes in, and if you don't keep an eye on it, it can be a nasty debt trap.

It can be handy, but maybe just set the credit limit on it to something that won't mess up your budget, rather than whatever they want to set it at by default.
