FNB fraud!

FNB is the worst in my opinion. They recently allowed a fraudster to use my details to open a number of accounts on their side, without confirming via safps (I have a protective registration, due to a cock up by Investec. Btw, Investec is also crap, but that is another thread altogether). I had to run around to get all that stuff closed. Their fraud department just doesn't exist.

The issue I see with fnb is that they allow accounts to be opened without proper fica verification. And even if the fica verificationthrows a red flag/mismatch, they still proceed. Fnb seems to incentivise their call center people on how many accounts they can open a day, without proper checks.

It's disgusting really.

Pro tip after all my experiences- get an account with mycredit check (experian). It's free and they alert you whenever a query is made on your profile.

I will never bank with fnb.

I would love to hear who proceed without correct Fica documents. . So clearly you have a few identical twins running around

the only bank with no fraud over the past 18 months is Bank Zero
that's most likely because they have so few customers

if you steal any random South African's card details, what are the odds that it is with Bank Zero? less than 1%?

if they grow to a substantial customer base, the fraud will come

(same reason you get more viruses on Windows than Linux)

Good day,can someone please help me,also felt victim to this scam for the new year,3 transactions on my virtual card that didn't have any authorization on the mobile app or anything, just received in contact messages, how long does FNB fraud department normally take and is there a good chance of getting this money back because today it has been processed out of my bank acccount,it's no longer pending, anyone had the same experience?

Its very common. Go onto the phone app. Secure chat. Fraud section. Follow the instructions

For starters, remove your virtual card and re-add it

The odds for getting your money back today is NIL! You need to do admin. Its a week to 2 week process

Damn man,but they keep promoting their virtual card and the only reason why I use a virtual card is for ebucks, they should return the money especially since I reported the fraud and hour after it happened and all transactions were still pending until I checked this morning, did anyone actually get their money back?

Its a process! And sadly, be patient. The issue is also on visa’s side (as it makes sense). Just follow the steps, report it, do as what are required.

Hi sorry for the late reply, I got my money back within a week. FNB forgot to send me a new debit card so that was another battle, but after a month and a dozen phone calls, I received a new one. It really sucks that they allow these insecure transactions to get processed. The only bank I trust is the one in my living room.

That sucks man! Have you tried hammering them with calls? I logged a HelloPeter review and some manager lady from FNB contacted me directly.

I did, they gave me a number that places you on hold for like 15 minutes, don't have airtime for that, will try the hellopeter thing as well
