So, I wanted to use my credit card today to deposit at an atm cash that family gave me.

I haven’t used my Nedbank card pin for ages so I go to the app and reset the pin. Go to the atm and try the card - wrong pin. Try it 3 times - wrong pin. I reset the pin again. Try again - wrong pin.

So I go into the branch and ask them to please fix it and reset it.

“Sorry Nedbank branches don’t have any way to manage cards anymore “ says some guy using an iPad. So I said what must I do? He tells me to use the app.

I told him the app changed it but it’s not working.

“Oh. No sorry we can’t do anything anymore with cards. Try cancelling the card and order a new one that might work…” ????

So I leave and go go FNB. Try to deposit with my FNB card and deposits are greyed out on 3 machines despite them taking deposits.

So I go onto the FNB branch and ask why the atms won’t accept cash.

“We don’t know we don’t deal with atms anymore in branch. Maybe try later…”

It’s like the bank branches are just advertising shops with mindless people who have no clue and no tools to do anything lol.

It’s amazing.

found this as well when you try to do the simplest things, nobody can help you, use the app is what I hear,
yet they happy to keep taking your money for a account fee and a withdraw fee and anything else they feel like taking.

maybe some of the vitual banks make more sense now, your gotyme and bankzero/discovery and the likes.

if I wanted to do a deposit to my own card Id just go to a checkers and get them to do it, seems a lot simpler

It’s called cost cutting to maximise profits, all big business work like this now.
You strip down all support structures and then hang the customers out to dry when they need assistance because who gives a fk that customers are inconvenienced if it means a healthy 2% more profits. And these days they all do it so you just have to pick your poison and grit your teeth.

- Standard Bank ATM not accepting card
- Wait in line for assistance
- Told to wait in another line at the Tellers
- Teller says card is not working, directs me to their self-help desk to call Customer Support...WTAF!!!
- Go to Capitec, lo and behold, I am able to access the card at the Capitec ATM
- Opened account same time at Capitec
- Transferred all Standard Bank funds to new Capitec account

And don't forget the "I do not have this problem" MyBBer expits.

They hire people with 20% pass rate and we have to deal with the kak as they cant understand the systems and processes.
sad to say but its everywhere these days, customer service even token service is almost non existent.
better off staying at home to navigate the AI whatsapp or app based chatbot that cant understand anything.

yet all these big banks keep taking your money to deliver you non-existent service,
I guess people learned from the ANC, who keep getting re-elected,

all you have to do is make lofty promises with no intention of ever delivering on those promises,
and people will flock to your brand/bank/service

I went to an FNB earlier today. First time in a long time.
I see they basically stripped out the bank and left it looking so stark and empty..? A circle of tellers around some not-so-comfy-looking couches...? Wut? I asked for a statement and was directed to a bank of ATMs. Fine okay.

I felt like an unwelcome stranger. I've been their client for well over 10 years now, jeez.

Time with a bank means fokkoll anymore. I still have an Absa account from Volkskas days. Means nothing.
