FNB frustrations - verified device/browser

And an update. Contrary to what RBJacobs said inter-account transfers between your own accounts won't work. Only payments of R301+ to an external account will work according to their app helpline.

This security method just doesn't make sense. So they want a possible fraudster to be able to transfer money out of your account to another account. Does not compute.

They fcked up and no amount of logic will convince them to change it. I'm slowly moving over to TymeBank as the ebucks value is eroded with every annual rule change. I haven't changed my banking behaviour and even though I'm still on level 5, I am getting less than a quarter in ebucks now than what I did 5 years ago.

Next years rule change might just be the last one that will no longer make it viable for me.

Facing the same issue here. My phone crashed yesterday (my fault) and I had to factory reset it. Spent the entire day trying to get everything up and running, and now I have an unverified device for the FNB App.

Turns out none of the PCs or browsers I use are verified except one, but it won't allow me to verify my phone from there, it just lists it as "unverified" with a delink option.

Nothing I try will give me full access to my banking, and all I want to do is create a virtual card for an online purchase.

Best way I found around this is to call the call center and make them verify it. I was in the branch so helped, but on my business account they wanted me to wait 7 days. Nearly lost my head with them, I'm like I have suppliers to pay and stock to get. I can't wait 7 days. Sorted same morning.

I got my FNB app not “registered” for dome reason last week.

I completed the app information

Logged in via FNB laptop

Scanned the QR code via my phone.

3 min later registered

If thats to difficult, just pay someone R300 via the phone app, and you will be verified

Yes sending a R301 EFT works. Still a schlep though compared to Capitec and others that don't have such silly restrictions.

My tablet is verified, but I can't get the browser to be verified. This is what I've been getting on my laptop on the FNB site for a while when trying to manage devices and browsers. I've tried Edge, FF and Chrome.

Verification takes months, as Fnb record IP, geo location and hardware. If any are “new”, you need to call the call centre if you get “funny” errors

What a retarded system! Got a FNB account I hardly use and now trying to order a replacement card.

Browser is untrusted, tells me I need to use the FNB App.

Try the FNB app and it's untrusted.

Trying the R300 transfer trick and wait a week. WTF FNB?!

That is the norm! R300 will do the magic

How long do you have to wait once it's been transferred? Saw a few posts mention a week.
Correct, it takes a week.

I see now other banks are dropping internet banking (if you dont use it in 3 months). So then it is all just mobile!
