FNB Fusion worth it?

No reason not to. Moving is cheaper and scores some easy eB points.

EDIT: For clarity, upgrade the cheque to fusion and keep using the credit card as normal.
On the last part, does it mean the credit card stays separate from the fusion account? My thinking was that you are fusing the two (cheque and credit accounts) and so you get one card for both, unless I am misunderstanding, you make it sound like you can "upgrade" one account and leave the other. They have been pestering for almost two years now to change to fusion and I have been ignoring them for that long.

I rarely use my credit card. In fact, it stays at home about 99% of the time. If they fuse the two, I take it that when you use the ATM you will see the credit card option on screen? If that is the case, then I have no use for the fusion of the two. I prefer to keep the credit card out of sight and out of mind until I really need it.

It also applies to swiping your card, I don't need the option of being presented with CC or cheque.
I don’t remember being shafted like what I am now when I was on Premier.

I was on their bundled offering for about R219 I believe?
I have been trying to see the benefits and I fail to see them, hence, me ignoring their offer to "upgrade."

Yes two accounts. I don't get why people try to overcomplicate this.

Fusion account is just a simple cheque account with overdraft. If you want credit card (which for anyone with discipline is the far better option) then you get a credit card.

Thank you, that clarifies it a lot.

I think you are thinking about their old “One account” where you had your bond, and Cheque account together.

Here I am also contemplating getting a fusion account. I also had the belief that it merged cheque and credit card into one, but I see that's not the case.

I have not used my cheque card for about 4 years? Card has long expired. I use credit card for everything and then just clear it every month.

If I can save some bucks changing my cheque to fusion then may as well.

With the new rules I've been told that you now get charged R69 p/m for the credit facility whether you use it or not. Previously that was only charged if you use more than R200 of it. The monthly account cost for Fusion will then be R115 + R69. Sneaky hidden costs.

I'm looking at changing back to current (which may result in less eBucks) and cancelling the overdraft. And possibly moving to another bank.

That's not true...
I followed up on this with my Private Banker and I got the following response:

"The facility fee for Fusion or Overdraft facility will be charged upon utilization opposed to only being charged from R200 utilization previously. If you do not use the credit limit, then the facility fee would not apply."

This is for Private Clients, but I would assume that there was similar behaviour for Premier Fusion previously.
^^

Thanks. This makes more sense, although it's for a different account type.

I used the secure chat (which is annoyingly slow) and the agent told me I'd get charged even if I don't use it. It's a bit confusing.

so right now on Aspire/Gold with CC, and Constantly bombarded with offers to do it (Fusion)
is there any real benefit to it, or just more hoops to jump through to get those eB?

I mean I already use the Finiky Virtual card, and refuel at engen exclusivly to try gain some points,
but always thinking how I could maximize things more.

Imo, besides the possible extra eBucks, no. But may depend on your usage of the account.

Another agent told me today that the R69 will be charged even if I don't use the credit facility. So imo it's now false advertising from FNB, because the account cost is now R115 + 69. Unless these agents are confused.

Those agents are bottom of the barrel trainees starting on day 1. I don't trust anything they say.

Probably best to get feedback from people on this forum, but we will have to wait a month before we will know.
Went to a branch this morning and they also say that I'll now be charged that fee regardless of using the credit facility. Might be specific to the Fusion Aspire account.

It could be yes. The below is in the price guide for Premier, but not in the price guide for Aspire. Specifically the first line that relates to the overdraft and credit facility fees.
