FNB Fusion

Can't you just transfer money from your credit card to your debit account (or eft them straight from the credit account) and get 55 days interest free?

That would be a cash transaction that would incur interest immediately.

Except if you had a positive balance...which negates the entire point.

oh, article said June :(

July doesn't make sense as the rules changes would already have ****ed everyone.

Unless that's their intention.

I'm told the go live date is 5 June 2017 ( from the service suite)

Sounds good, I will call my banker tomorrow. She will probably not know anything about it, as per usual lol

It does sometimes seem as if they're last to know...

Let's us know how it goes - most curios as to what interest rate you get and if its better than what you have now.

My private banker said the accounts are live today.

She will contact me when the application is done, then I need to decide if I am happy with interest rate and limit.

I thought they'd just merge the existing facilities together. I bet I'd qualify for less than what I have now which won't work for me.

Seems I won't be able to get the fusion account, as they basically have to do new application. This would mean I do actually have to earn 62.5k per month to qualify for the account, I don't earn anything near that lol

I only have PC account, because it popped up at the top of internet banking that I qualify for it.

Surprise surprise I haven't heard from my supposed "Private Banker" since the 1st of June when I queried this.

I bet they are still going to ask why I want to downgrade, without a ****ing clue as to why and how they can't understand it.

I wonder how the account numbers would work ?

If I have CHQ (6200 0000 00001) and CARD (6200 0000 0002) - will I now get a brand new number, need to change debit orders etc ?

This looks like a product that would suite my style of banking. So I contacted premier banking using the secure chat option in the FNB app and yes the product is live. You will only be able to apply online starting the 1st of July. For now they have have passed my request over to the admin department for application processing. Hope to hear back from them soon.

Seems only card purchases are interest free for 30 days, normal eft payments and cash withdrawals against the facility with operate the same way as an overdraft and attract interest charges from day1.

This is what they told me too.

I've also queried the availability of this. It has been advertised but I'm unable to switch.

FNB

I was able to convert my account online this morning - simple enough process.

Wonder if it would be worth moving my remaining credit card balance over to the fusion account, the interest rate did seem lower.

So what's the point? If you withdraw money from this card, you pay interest on it because it comes from the "credit" part.

Theoretically you shouldn't really be doing EFT's and such from the credit portion then...

I think this facility only really works if you are strict with your money.

That isn't what I'm referring to. I presume you still have a cheque account where you would do your EFTs from.

But how would you withdraw money from an ATM without paying interest on it?

The way I understand this is you have 1 account... not a cheque/current account and this account.

Did it come up as an offer online or is there somewhere you find the switch to flick?
