FNB Fusion

es frustrating here.... because if I want to have the free monthly fees I need to maintain R50k in the fusion account, but to get the extra bucks I need to use into the negative credit facility hahahaha... so catch 22.
Not really, just stick to a conventional cheque and credit card package?

Also, saving R199 by keeping R50k in the account is not even 4%. You'd do better putting those funds in some sort of interest bearing account.

It's always been like that on a cheque account with an overdraft. Really impossible to earn the overdraft usage reward and the waved monthly bank fee. As it stands now I would not be able to achieve either but there is another reward I might be able to earn as I no longer have to transfer money out of a cheque account to pay a credit card account:

"Do you maintain a monthly balance of at least R5 000 in your FNB Premier Cheque Account or FNB Fusion Premier Account?"

So I had a look at my transaction history this morning and noticed service fees on transactions I have not seen before. R1.40 on a cash @ till transaction at Checkers (one for the cash and one for the groceries) and a R1.95 fee on a prepaid electricity purchase via the FNB app. I see the price guide for Premier accounts shows a service fee for prepaid electricity but I am not sure if that was the case before July 2017 as well. Perhaps someone here can expand on that. Ended up phoning the Premier suite to find out about the R1.40 fee on the other transactions and they confirmed that it should not have been charged as that is for pay as you use products. Reversal request logged. Share if you experienced something similar on your Premier Fusion account.

Suspect there's a glitch in the matrix.

I also got charged the R1.40 service fee on the most recent swipe.

Can't do the contact "Premier Banking" thing yet as it still links to my Private Banker for some reason. Also want to query the card replacement fee I was charged.

Oh thank goodness not just me seeing the fees. So did you downgrade to Premier Fusion and they charged you for the new card?

Did anyone use their fusion card at a toll gate ot try to use avis with. It didn't work at the airport parking for me.

If there is money in your account it comes of the balance, if there isn't it goes into credit. Really isn't that complicated

so to clarify if you always have a positive balance, when swiping the fusion card you are never using credit?

There FNB goes and again charges me a service fee for a Cash@Till transaction and this is after they already had to reverse the service fee from my previous complaint. :(

Anybody managed to get a PC or PW account converted?

So I have two annoying issues with my Fusion account and was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same?

1. I am trying to increase my credit facility but I am struggling. My affordability looks great and I have a great credit score but still I cannot get more than a R3300 increase. So I am not even bothering performing an increase anymore.

2. Cash@Till generates a service fee of R1.40 on the cash portion of the transaction and the same service fee on the goods section of the transaction. So that is R2.80 every time I use Cash@Till. I have phoned FNB numerous times and they keep doing reversals but they do not fix original the problem. So I am back to drawing cash at an ATM.

I know it's not really an answer to the question but why the need to keep increasing the credit balance? Why not just stick to conventional CC then?

It's probably the combination of a CC and Overdraft facility that lowers the overall value if you are comparing it to what you got on a CC before.

Haven't used Cash@Till since the cardless ATM option became available so can't comment here.

What I have however noticed since switching to Fusion is that a lot of "reserved" type transactions that should be reversed again simply don't get reversed.

Had a large sum reserved when checking into Hotel in Sri Lanka and even though I've left and settled already it's still sitting there. Same with all the digital services that "test" your card before confirming new details. Those are all stuck as well and although small amounts quite irritating.

Sorry I should have phrased that better. I only have the Fusion account with a credit facility. I cancelled my credit card and thought I would give a bit of time for the credit facility of the credit card that no longer exists to reflect before attempting to apply for an increase of the Fusion account's credit facility. So I have been checking on a monthly basis to see by how much I can increase the credit facility with but with it being such a small increase whenever I try, I have not gone through with the application. It almost feels if there is an upper limit on Fusion accounts.

Not seen this with my Fusion account yet.

I have been considering upgrading to Premier Fusion, at the moment I have separate credit card and cheque accounts. I read somewhere that if you have a skimmed card and people steal money from your credit card it's relatively easy to get the bank to block the transaction if you call them quickly, but with money removed from a cheque account it's harder to recover.

Is there any truth to this? Does anyone know how this might affect a Fusion account, if e.g. you keep the balance below zero and your actual funds in a savings pocket?

I think there is some truth to this. The credit card companies have insurance for fraud on their cards, and this is used to settle the fraudulent transactions. Also applies to purchases not honored .e.g your good never were delivered.

Not sure what happens on these fusion accounts.

Quick q - currently, on a cheque account you can set a swipe limit as well as a withdraw limit on your card. This is currently not an option on a credit card though.
With a Fusion account, can you set a swipe and withdraw limit on your card?

Another question actually... ;)
Is it possible to add an additional card (reflecting my wife's name) to a Fusion account?
If so, would this be still be free of charge as with my PC credit card account?
