FNB Gold Cheque Card

So I just got my FNB Gold Cheque,how is this anymore significant to my FNB silver debit cards,they are both cheque accounts,I just wanna know what the one does that the other can't as FNB isn't very clear on their FNB,also with the gold card am I now able to make online purchases as if it were a credit card,I know that might seem like a dumb question but all the digits are there
 
I have a platinum cheque card with FNB and no credit card. I've made multiple purchases online ranging from air tickets to ipads with just this cheque card. It is a VISA cheque card and has a CVV number and expiry date...

Apparently the only difference between the gold and silver is the colour. That's what they told me, anyway.
 
The colour is basically the only diff I could ever find. And I think you pay a bit more for the card itself on gold. On platinum there are some lower interest rates etc though.
 
You also earn more eBucks on platinum cards, and a Platinum cards gets you free access to the slow lounge at airports. Slow Lounges are AWESOME!
 
I could never make online purchases with my silver card and it is visa and I have no idea,ill test my gold card soon,also does this mean I should now go and cancel my silver card as I would be charged fees on my silver account as well as my gold account,or are they linked,or is there no need for both,I donnt wanna be paying bank fees for both when there is only need for the one.
 
I think you pay per account, not per card. But yes, if you have your gold card, there is no reason to keep your silver card.
 
A Cheque card can be compared with a credit card without the budget facilities and other benefits, enabling the customer to purchase online as it will have a CVV number at the back. When the card is swiped at a retailer it will not ask for a PIN unless it is a CHIP-and-PIN card which would necessitate the PIN to complete a transaction. In comparison a debit card is a PIN based card and cannot be used for online purchases.

Can you bring a guest for free into SLOW lounges - couldn't see any info on the website about how many people per card. Would be nice :)
 
I've bought loads of things online with my FNB Gold Cheque card
 
I'm planning on opening an FNB cheque account and was wondering if I can go straight to opening a Gold Cheque Account or do I have to first start off with Silver and after a certain period of time/usage will I only be able to move up to Gold? (Have a feeling I can start off with Gold but just want to make sure with someone who's familiar with it).

Depends on your salary. IIRC it's R140k+ per annum for a gold account with FNB.
 
So is earning 100k p.a the only requirement then? I have to just produce my pay slip and I'm then eligible to open a Gold Cheque Acc.?
