FNB Graphite

Do you happen to know if the eBucks rules relating to Graphite were similarly updated as Platinum was as at 1 October 2014?

Regarding the eBucks cap on Platinum, I see it stated that "Graphite credit card holders earn unlimited eBucks", but I can't find clarity about if the same earn rate restrictions apply e.g.
- For fuel, I assume you could earn more than the Platinum cap of eB6500 per month, but it's not clear if the maximum qualifying fuel spend is still capped at 20% of your qualifying card spend for the month.
- Same goes for Checkers / Shoprite - I assume you could earn more than the Platinum cap of eB15000 per month, but it's not clear if the maximum qualifying Checkers / Shoprite spend is still capped at 30% of your qualifying card spend for the month.

So basically, is it completely unlimited eBucks earn on Graphite, or unlimited earn but with T&Cs applicable to how you've spent per category on your card?

Yes they were updated, still fairly easy to get to level 5, im having to take a smart device to retain level 5. Which is fine as i was going to get a new phone and am now doing it through them.

You can earn unlimited ebucks on normal spend, so instead of being capped at R20k spend you are uncapped but the rules to petrol and checkers remain. havent looked too closely but im far from earning 15000eb at checkers anyway.

Well I realise credit card rates are better the higher the tier of credit card one has. Are you saying the same holds true for home loans? One might qualify for a higher tier but opt not to take it up though. As you say though, the question is does Graphite afford a better rate.

Yes ... both at FNB and at ABSA I was offered better home loan rates if I switched to private.

What is the earn/salary requirement at Investec Private?

I'm not sure, I think it depends on your qualifications, and then income starts at around R700k, but I don't think that guarantee's you an account.

Sure, if one is an engineer or some other professional then that lowers the earning bar I believe. For everyone else then I guess apply and hold thumbs :p

Cool, thanks.

Are the new eBucks points rules for Graphite the same as for Platinum? Graphite eBucks rules are not listed as general info on the FNB and eBucks websites, and the specific Graphite info website link they give still has the old rules showing.

Yes they are indentical.

Graphite being rebranded to fall under Private Clients.
May be a problem for me if they align the way rewards work.

Most likely. Interesting though, wonder if it was a branding fail on their part...?

I did a fair amount of complaining about private banking charges and substandard premier service. Maybe take up hasnt been great so they are moving us across and discontinuing the product or it was cannabalising private clients becuase of easier rewards criteria.

I didn't see anything around the fee structure in the comms that went out though.. probably no change though, seeing it is initiated form their side.

Staying the same for the moment. But private clients (the real one) is actually cheaper than graphite afaik

I received a mail today saying that the old FNB Private Clients will become FNB Private Wealth. This will probably allow the old "Graphite" clients to now be integrated under a separate Private Clients group. More will become clear after 17/11 as this is when they say they are doing system upgrades.

That would make sense.
Hopefully the result is more focused service for both levels as and premier and private were lacking.

Full text of the email. I've glanced over the ebucks rewards, and seems identical to the current PC offering.

Introducing FNB Private Wealth – your dedicated private banking and wealth advisory partner

Dear

As an innovative company that seeks to stay ahead of the industry norm and in line with international trends, periodic reinvention
aimed at strengthening our focus is essential. That’s why FNB is evolving. And we’d like you to be part of it.

The reasons for this evolution are based on your needs as a private client. We’ve always partnered with our private clients
and their families to offer advice, services and products that help grow, manage and protect their wealth. Recently, however,
we have acknowledged that when our clients reach a certain point in their wealth life cycle, their need for a more specialist
advisory approach becomes apparent. This has prompted a relook of our business model for servicing our high net worth
clients such as yourself.

Consequently, to enhance the role we play as your wealth advisor, and in line with global insights, we’re repositioning our
top-tier private banking offering as FNB Private Wealth. And we’d like to welcome you to the FNB Private Wealth family.

Before we invest your wealth, we invest our time

At FNB Private Wealth, we believe the most valuable thing we can offer you is our time. Our relationship approach has
always focused on dedicated wealth management and private banking advice. Now, as we shift our model to service the top
tier of the wealth market, we’ll spend even more time understanding your goals and structuring the right advice and products
to help you achieve them. You will continue to receive the dedicated service of a Private Banker, along with superior wealth,
investment and portfolio management, and retirement and fiduciary planning advice for your local and global needs. Please
note that your Private Banker won’t change and you will continue to enjoy the high level of service, benefits and rewards to
which you are accustomed, including access to SLOW and Bidvest airport lounges.*

With the upgrade on the 17th of November, you will also notice that all your product descriptions include FNB Private Wealth. For your convenience, however, you may continue to use your current FNB Private Clients Cheque and Credit Cards until expiry or until you request a new FNB Private Wealth card. Should you have any questions relating to your upgrade, please call your Private Banker or the Service Suite on 087 730 6000.

At FNB, we’re constantly innovating and as FNB Private Wealth, we’re working to make those innovations even more relevant
to your life. We have a vested interest in your success and look forward to accompanying you on your wealth journey.

Yours sincerely

Eric Enslin
Head: FNB Private Wealth

*For more information on how to enjoy benefits such as eBucks rewards at the highest level view the attachment. Please note that terms and conditions also apply.

If they apply Private Client eBucks Reward rules to Graphite then there's no way I will upgrade to Graphite from Platinum. Just not worth it then :(
