I'll let you know if I get this resolved. Maybe try transfer a small amount now just to get the mandate sorted

After another call they confirmed that it takes a couple of days after the mandate is signed before they send the payment.
Further only after you've called them to confirm they have received everything (system issue), only on the following day will they send you the money.
tl;dr : Expect a week if you're lucky.


Should receive my funds today hopefully.

Cool no problem. I will do this and transfer a small amount beginning every year. I guess they first check with the government if you still qualify to receive money and if you pay your tax.

Update : So normally I get funds in the evening after sending it from Wise the day before. Doesn't seem to be the case right now.

What are the normal wait times you guys experience? Please mention your bank as well.

No hookers and blow this weekend :(

My last transfer only took 2 days. But 3 days is normal. I'm with FNB.

Formerly TransferWise. Nothing like the awful garbage that Payoneer is. You create balances in any currency you want, can switch money between them at the best rates you'll likely find anywhere, and some balances support having a 'bank account'. So you can supply US/EU/GBP/CA bank details and the funds are received into the respective Wise balance at a fixed rate of around $7. Then just switch to ZAR and send to your local bank account.

Also, crucially, you can connect your US balance to PayPal as a US bank account.

Interesting, how easy is it for an Sa citizen to open an account and are there any fixed monthly fees?

What bad experiences have you had with Payoneer?

Anyone can spend a few minutes and get set up with Wise. No monthly fees. Just a small fixed fee for receiving funds from outside Wise (±$7) and a small fixed fee when sending to SA bank accounts (±R90).

Payoneer thinks they are god. Receiving money is a privilege with hoops involved, sending money has hoops too, minimum amounts involved, outrageous fees, slow processing times etc. Years ago during uni I was forced to use Payoneer when doing some freelance work for Livingston Research, and oh my god it was frustrating almost to the point of tears.
 
Looks great, I'll definitely sign up, I'm sure I'll have a use for it in future.
