FNB Smartphone/Tablet Special

I got my device about 25th June, and started paying end of July, which I also paid the R150 courier fee....

Just watch out. The price you have to settle is based on retail prices. Not the price the phone or tablet would have cost you through them if you paid it off over 24 months.

Might not be a problem on some things but on the Samsung S3 it meant you were paying R1400 more than you would have.

I phoned them to check on this and got this from 2 different consultants.

I disagree as a direct tweet from @RBJacobs stated: "You can settle at any time the outstanding balance by emailing - [email protected] "

So, by outstanding balance, that means it is (monthly payment) x (24 months) - (monthly payment) x (number of months already paid) = outstanding balance.

They can't add penalty fee's.... and I have a tweet from FNB to prove it!

EDIT: ALthough I'll gladly pay the remaining retail price on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, because considering the Tab 2 is being offered, the value of the Tab 1 should be waaaay lower now than the 24 installments add up to!

Just inquired from them regarding an SGS3. This is their reply.

Good day

The R7 080 is the discounted value that’s calculated over 24 months

As per terms and conditions early settlement is calculated at the full FNB Retail Value of R7999

So it seems goofball is correct.

Well that is BS! When it comes time for me to settle I will be sure to tweet RBJacobs and make sure he fixes my settlement figure as he did not disclose this!

Wonder how long after the release of the Surface it will become available through FNB? Anybody here know or want to take a guess based on previous trends?

Just got a call from them.
Been delayed AGAIN because the got a new driver.......
****!

Well my phone has been delayed again until tomorrow, apparently the Rustenburg branch has only received it this morning and they will dispatch it tomorrow, if the driver doesn't deliver tomorrow then I can expect in next week Tuesday or Thursday because that's the only days that they are in my area.

It's been 7 days already, so much for 3-5 working days.

This is the worst service I have ever seen in my life and I have worked with some lazy people in my life...

You obviously havent seen much of bad service then, consider yourself lucky.

+1. They can become ridiculous at times... I once had a delivery delayed for days because the driver couldn't find the street, yet I've seen with my own eyes he driving past my office each day it was delayed... I the end I gave them the a very big piece of my mind, and used some words that got them jumping, and they delivered the next day...

Ja i was quite pssd off when they told me that. Still not a bad deal if you wanted to pay it off over 24.

Can you choose the colour of the S3? And how long after the web application does it take until the phone is in your hand?

I might get itchy over the weekend and just get the S3 at Cellucity on a smart plan.

Can you cancel the FNB order after submitting the application?

I received the SMS this morning, my smartphone has been ordered. Now for the long wait.

I'm anxiously waiting for FNB to add the Note 2 to the list....phoned them today and they cannot even give an estimate of when it could be expected, could be this week, could be in a month or two...

Please post if you spot it on the list....I'll be checking regularly

Who'd you speak to? I believe this guy would be best able to tell you what's going on: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/374424-Kartik-Mistry

I sent a PM to RB Jacobs (FNB guy) on the fb page and he advised me to call 0860102970 ext 5 (Core Banking solutions, sales and support). Spoke to Revine who said she herself is anxiously waiting for the fine phone, we even had a nice chat about all the awsome features.... but they are still awaiting feedback from the supplier (Samsung?) or something. Don't know if I would be able to get to Kartik Mistry directly, but it seems like the correct department I spoke to.

I see they've updated the info on the FNB site this morning....tummy got all in a twist as I started scrolling down but to no avail...

Can you terminate the 'contract' early?

"Early Settlement: If you decide to or have to pay for the device before the end of the 24 month period (early settlement) you will become responsible to pay FNB the full retail selling price of the device."

So you can settle it early but you are going to end up paying more for the device than you would over the normal period:
