Great, but does it solve the FICA game they played with their customers on Sunday?
Well, got an apology message at 19:16 today, what was great is that the push notification message was "System declines on your Credit Card" which freaked me out as I thought my card just got cloned.
This is the second time they've had really stupid messages in the push notification within the last few months.

Didn't get any monetary compensation or have any other message about it actually being an issue so I wouldn't look like an idiot when paying.
If I wasn't leaving in a few months, I'd already be moving banks.

Yeah, it's really nice of them to send a message

My experience with subscription services are the same. Except the ones I actually need to pay allow me to update details, even if the account was not paid.
Spotify gives a lot of leniency for my broke pocket.
Other services request the CVV only, but allows me to keep the same card and just enter CVV when making payments.
I don't have active subscriptions on my bank accounts. I usually do manual card payments.
Suspect you would disable dynamic cvv(one time cvv) for the virtual card u want to use for subscription services / reoccurring payments.

Where your bank is the acquirer, i'm sure they can set it as an authorized transaction with the initial payment but for 3rd party acquirers this would pose a issue as most tokenization systems rely on simply restoring card details once in the pci environment and/or requiring cvv to be entered.

I wonder if i can disable e-commerce on my cards as a FNB card setting when this comes into production. Would make sense to me and disabling it by default on new cards issued along with ability to disable atm use.

I hear you, but it's not a problem for me personally.
Whether I pay with a virtual card or normal debit card is the same to me.
Sure, categorizing payments makes sense.
I just don't have that many payments to do, so don't see myself using this.

So along with this, I'm hoping they are putting in ability to dynamically disable ATM and POS use of cards. (you can easily disable the card and enable again via the app)

The security use case is awesome.. imagine at the restaurant and pos card scheming is done along with and pin stealing.. this would be extremely useless as with atm access dead, ecommerce dead, chip not being able to be cloned easily.. you left with track2 fallback scenarios and even then you can have a setting to disable this.. as most of SA is emv complaint. 2ndly in a fallback / mag track transaction,, merchant takes risk if they don't go online.

So yah.. security aspect is HIUGE

Categorizing .. not really. The reason you ideally want to split out your card per acquirer (or merchant if you don't know acquirer) is that it limits damage in a breach. I've only had my card details exposed once by an abroad renowned Hotel group of all places.. so yah.. not everyone is PCI complaint.

I get your point and it makes sense.
If a data breach occurred and you used a virtual card then it's as easy as removing the virtual card.

All the other terminology I'm not familiar with. I'm happy not being in the banking sector.

wrt pos use.. I see FNB lately pulls your geo location when you use you card and you have phone app installed.

I won't be surprised if they can have a disable if you not close to pos location or a quick enable for X pos transations.. i.e. you click enable, you go do transactions and after y time or x transactions it goes back to a default disable state.

868 in queue, I give up. You have like 2 minutes to reply once they message, so at 3am or something I would need to be up, constantly checking my phone.

Pissed me off today. Needed to EFT asap and the app just cancelled the payment & forced me to enable location services. Also had to fiddle a bit for it to get working. Not great when you're in a rush.

so...........did you get your card?
Since it's only launching next year
You talking about my Feb issue? Ended up getting it a few days before lock down, with me having to go to the bank 3 times to get it sorted.
In regards to the R0 available one, that got sorted ~20 hours after the issue first started.
