Focus ST vs 135i

thats not a modded ST.. thats a pushed to the limit one... to get 0-100 sub 5 the distance you where talking it sounds. he probably blows an engine every month :P

for a car to be 0-100 sub 5 is quite an ask, especially from that ST engine !

* Shrugs *

Dunno. All I know is that it was extremely fast and that it sounded downright angry.

It's more likely the 125i badge was swopped for a 135i :)

This story would make more sense ;)

That thing was way too fast to be a rebadged 125i. I've been in a 125i so I know how they go. A stock ST should have no trouble getting rid of it, especially at the reef. This was a real 135i.

People can get stupid performance from the current crop of (relatively) small capacity turbo-charged shopping trolleys - you just need to throw money at the right components.

That said - the oke might've won, but he's still driving a Ford... :p

+1

BM's are over priced man, the guy in the ford prob owns one that he uses to impress the guys at work, and uses the ST to blow big headed bm drivers out of the water :P

The 135i is a seriously impressive car. If it didnt look like it was fingered by a Tata and then raped by a camary, I would seriously consider one for the wife...

Yup, ±20k for an S60R turbo and gubbins for the ST and 200kW on the wheels is easy.

R3.5k for a Dreamscience flash unit and my dyno figures went from 129kW/320Nm to 154kW/430Nm at the wheels. One of the facelift ST's gets 180's at the wheels with just software (better map than mine, though).

Also the 135 weighs 1560kg, the ST 1390kg so the ST needs fewer kW to get the same kW/ton.

Wonder if the 335coupe double clutch trans + the OEM sofware performance upgrade would be much quicker? Still, agree with 4cer, that must have been a seriously modded ST.

Anyone know if the 135 has launch control?

I tried launch control in the GT-R. You need a pilots license, either that or Car was right when they said it wont work under 5k on the clock cause this thing refused to do anything close to launch control.

of course, it didnt need it. Its a rocket once that engine finds itself.

Lol, relax.
There isnt a ST in the country strong enough to this to a 135.
The driver is at fault here, or he was not in sport mode.
The strongest ST wont leave a 100m gap with a 135 in a 800m sprint, its just impossible.

Lol at the St boys thinking their car is fast, its not.
And btw the 135 is not twin turbo its biturbo, theres a difference.

Ooooh lightning McQueen himself!!!;)

JK8, biturbo = twin turbo. The distinction you imply isn't inferred by anyone apart from opinionated ricers on bulletin boards across teh innerwebz. It is less confusing to simply refer to either parallel or sequential turbos.

LOL I'd love to hear lightning McQueen get out of this one...agreed, twin turbo schin turbo...sequential, dual, paralel, simese it all implies 2 puffers!

I think the distinction, if there is one, lies with WHEN the turbo's spool up...i.e both at the same time, or first one and then the other etc.
