Fog Lamps.....

As long as it is not fog lights, cause then this campaign turns bloody and becomes the Foreskin Off campaign.

Will the fog lights on always at night guys at least consede that they can cause more blinding light (that the normal dimmed driving lights) when they come over a rise and when going over speed bumps?

Sorry, I speak English... I apologise for not perving at animated female characters, thinking my WOW character is my real life persona, and speaking geek speak.

Good for you, although the impression you create by your liberal use of punctuation marks, especially when you get excited, does create a different impression. By the way, what is a WOW?

In the event that you again misconstrue my words, I am alluding to the fact that I also rather pride myself on my grasp of the Queen's language. Which is why, and I would challenge you to prove otherwise, my ridiculous use of exclamation marks, question marks, 1s, "eleventy"s and such would only be done to mock people who choose to converse as you do. Your implication that I am a purveyor of anime, a frequenter of Shadowmoon Valley (yep, had to query a World of Warcraft map for that one), or indeed particularly "l33t" is erroneous.

But then making faulty deductions does seem to be a speciality of yours.

Incredible. Truly incredible.

Of course due to your in-depth knowledge of all things geeky, which you seem at pains to disprove, I assume you were actually attempting to correct the way I abbreviated that. Proving what you are trying so hard to disprove.

Yes you are... Now, if you'll do me the favour of sitting down for a quick lesson in structuring a written exchange in a cohesive fashion:

You'll note that the paragraph you so thoughtlessly ripped apart started with the phrase "In the event that you again misconstrue my words...". Now by common sense and common writing convention this implies that the paragraph, it its entirety, is an effort to elucidate the humour attempted in the initial response.

(see the new paragraph here, handily denoting a new train of thought?)

Your, actually quite sad and pathetic, response is what is referred to as a quote-mine. It's disingenuous, not very smart and generally just frowned upon. It's one of the reasons why religious fanatics aren't taken seriously. Don't be a fanatic, Lance.

Stop arguing about who is the coolest - I am. Not one of you two are.

Start focusing on the fact that I want to snip of the top of your wiener if you drive with fog lights on in non foggy conditions.

EDIT : I'm not sure if your repeated mentioning of how long you have been driving is meant to impress me, or perhaps you have an idea that I have only been driving for a few years, but just to set the record straight I have been driving for 20+ years and I say people driving with fog lights are idiots.

Your Cortina doesn't have super-cool fog lights, does it? :p

By you being the steak knife wielding, Opel-driving, soon-to-be Nokia N8-owning embodiment of cool, I can't argue with that. However in order for you to execute your intended maneuver you'd need to catch me first. As you would evidently be blinded by the evil glare from my puny front fog lights, how would you go about doing this? :D

Ooh, ooh, ooh,... one of your after-the-fact edits again? Oh, joy...

Do you experience difficulty with formulating a fleshed-out thought all in one go? Do you find yourself oft distracted by shiny objects, hence your vehement opposition to some inconsequential lights? There's probably medication for that...

And, just for good measure, I see you threw in one of those erroneous assumptions of yours as well? No, Lance. WOW is pervasive enough that my dear mother would probably recognise the phrase. However, again by standard convention (which you seem generally fixated with, yet can't seem to bring yourself to uphold in certain conditions) it would not be necessary to capitalise the "of" in the title.

can someone please enlighten me as to why people drive with their car fog lights on (on clear days and/or clear nights)

and if you do, do you drive with front on only or front and rear

and if with rear on, do you know that it blinds the person in the car behind you , or don't you know you can switch them off
So do you go blind every time someone applies brakes? it the same strength bulb as the break-light, and it's not blinding at all. sounds to me like you're just in a bad mood and want to take it out on any random object you get?

When you hunt at night, you use a red filter on the spot light so not to blind the animals. A white light is far more "blinding" than a red one.

Erm... It being the same intensity as the brake lights (or brighter by virtue of being clearer) is exactly the issue. You'll notice brake lights aren't constantly on... there's a reason for that. The sudden increase in brightness draws one's attention. Lost in a sea of bright red rear fog lights brake lights might as well be discontinued.

then there's something right with my eyesight as neither a brake-light (or even 10/20/100/ etc) blinds me, nor does rear fog lights. I think the problem is too many people just like to complain about every damn thing imaginable

Maybe you have never seen a BMWs rear fogs light in action. In bright DAYLIGHT it can be very blinding. Its this thin little square with a very bright red light, much brighter than the brakes.

actually I have seen those :) And I have been seeing fine for many years now, driving around a LOT and never got blinded by a red light

They are extremely bright at night, especially at traffic lights when you're stuck behind a car with them switched on - unlike beams, they are not directed downwards so they are in your immediate line of sight which makes them blinding. This is why they are effective during foggy spells...:erm:

I could not agree more. It goes beyond being annoying when people have their rear fog lights on, its bloody dangerous. I actually believe there is a campaign from some motor journalists to have it made illegal to drive with fog lights on in conditions that don't warrant their use.

Rear fog lights are bloody dangerous. Front fogs have never bothered me in the slightest and they increase my peripheral lighting, so I drive with them on at night. I cannot fathom why some people have such a major issue with them - the beams do not intersect - they are aimed downwards towards the road and therefore do not blind anyone apart from the odd ex-dog or cat. If they were blinding, they'd be so on their own, which they certainly are not...

Then you should look at the glare fog lights create in dark and wet road conditions. They are blinding in these circumstances thanks to the reflection coming off the road into the oncoming drivers eyes.
