Fog Lamps.....

Then you should look at the glare fog lights create in dark and wet road conditions. They are blinding in these circumstances thanks to the reflection coming off the road into the oncoming drivers eyes.

Seen it - never bothered me in the slightest. Beams do the same thing in wet conditions...

Yes, you tend to switch off brights when another car is approaching, right?
Well please do the same with your fog lights if there is no fog around.

I checked my front fogs, even if you as high as the VW badge on the front grille the fogs are not in your face, not sure what you guys are on about...

Rear fogs, kill them dead! Especially the Ford Focus drivers the X5 and Minis...

I don't care where they are mounted on your car. The switch inside the car that turns them on has got an icon indicating fog. This is to help you not get confused about their usage. Its for fog. Note that the switch for fog lights do not have an icon of a dude in shades. This is because these lights are not to be used to make you look cool. If they were intended to make you look cool I am sure that said icon would have been present on the switch for these lights.

Let me reiterate - I will circumcise you with a steak knife if you use fog lights when no fog is present. If you happen to be driving a VAG product things could get uglier.

Lol
The fog light only comes on if the rear fogs are on...
Ill still drive with my fogs on, if you want to touch my penis, you have to try and catch me with your little gay teal coloured corsa...

My steak knife is gay teal coloured coded with the car you know ;)

But now that you have admitted you drive like a VAG, why do you use your fog lights if there is no fog?

To see and try to avoid potholes and to make sure there's no bodies hanging underneath the car in front of me...

Well, I guess all that I can do is nod and smile. That perfectly sums up the mind of a fog light driver (and also the mind of a VAG owner).

Guess teal gay Corsa have super advanced lights then cause I can see all those without fog lights. Go gay teal Corsa!

Saw a dumbass cretin in a dark blue A6 (I think) going down Conrad Drive in Blairgowrie earlier tonight with tailfogs on. Of course the front fogs were on too but, and this is the GOOD part: the numskull had the car's MAIN lights on the 'park' setting - in effect giving NO light to speak of at all! And this on a car with D (id est diplomatic) plates, eish.

Hey ho, hey ho I drive a VW and wouldn't use my fog lights incorrectly... But I am an ex Opel driver soooo...

At night, yes - I find the light generally helps me to see better in the dark. Not high beams (brights) though...

The correct term is dipped headlights, and no they dont do the same thing as fogs do in wet conditions. It's complete BS to think that a dipped headlight causes the same amount of glare intensity in wet conditions as a fog light.

For the benefit of Lancelot, I'm the guy running around Durbs in a Subaru with my FRONT fogs on... :D

Fogs are set so as NOT to blind cars in the opposite direction, and they also assist in allowing the tosser who is stumbling down the road, to actually see me and get out of the way before I hit him and make a bloody mess of my car.

Agreed, running with rear fogs on in broad daylight is bloody stupid, as they are the same intensity as brake lights and make the brake lights that much more ineffectual when they are on.

Finally a question to Lancelot...we actually agreed on so many points during the SWC debates, do you now just argue because you can or are you really a total tosser? You actually seemed like quite a decent human being back in those halcyon days...

Roux I hope you don't expect too many of us to shed a tear when somebody klaps you in your gay teal Corsa because that is one of the WORST colours when it comes to blending in to the surroundings....oh....OK....I forgot....you're the guy with a vendetta against VAG, so that would also mean that you haven't the brain power to see the advantages of fogs making you more visible. Are they an option on gay teal Corsas BTW?

Fazda, you're a VAG driver so no one expects you to know what fog lights are for. Despite their name clearly describing their purpose I would not put it beyond you, and other VAG drivers, to still get it wrong, as has been proven with JK8 as well.

BTW, brights make you more visible too, why not drive with them on all the time. People will understand why you do it if you put a bumper sticker on your Subaru saying "I'm a VAG driver".

I think we need to change the robots' red light to some other colour for these people so they don't get blinded when it turns red and skip the robot or drive into the back of your car.

The bottom line is that its against the law to use fog lights in clear conditions.
http://transport.dot.gov.za/library/regulations/1999/roadregs06.html
(6) No person shall operate on a public road, a motor vehicle while any fog lamp fitted to such vehicle is lit, except in conditions of poor visibility caused by snow, fog, mist, dust or smoke.
Please note that rain is not mentioned as the road surface is very reflective when it rains and this worsens the problem of fog lights.

So there you have it. Lucky for you Fazda there is no law for being tasteless, classless and unimaginative (aka driving a VAG) but there is a law against the improper use of fog lights.

Remember, by steak knife us color coded with my gay teal Corsa...
