Ford Bantam (Groupie Thread)

Lol you know why I mentioned you here.

Jirrie dude, why did you lie the other day and deny having the bantam? You are one weird motherfucker.
I didn't deny or admit. The picture was the proof ? Anycase, these Bantams are value for money.

Same here, what does the restrictors look like and how do they work @maseboerseun?
Well, I was told that these restrictors are fitted in the "purge" lines in order to restrict the flow of coolant so that your engine reach normal operating temperature in very short time. This is what they look like. There are 2 of them. One in the line going from your thermostat housing to the bottle. And one going from the radiator to the bottle.

Besides the action of the fan and the pipes, what does the actual gauge indicate?
Oh with the restrictors fitted at times the gauge just goes over the middle with the fan running for its life.. Without them the needle is in the middle and the fan has not kicked in.

Take them out, throw in the dustbin.

I agree. But it does not make sense that there was no issue for the past 12 years and now all of a sudden its an issue. I like to determine the root cause rather than just to apply a quick corrective action. I know it sounds silly. But something must be going wrong somewhere in order for this rocam not to like that restrictors anymore.

And i agree. There must be a reason. Wanted to take out my restrictors, but will do so the day i get temperature problems.

So all in all it seems to me that once the restrictors are removed and you have better "flow" in the system there is no more issues. Which makes me lean towards the water pump or radiator. What bugs me is that the pump was replaced in 2019. Now it wasn't' genuine Ford part, but still..

@FiestaST this is the follow up from the tazz groupie thread, what do you think will follow this? Maybe a picanto groupie thread?

MMM... then i'll put some money on the pump having issues.

I doubt it's the pump, the pump is just a mechanical thing, not too many points of failure. I also doubt it's the radiator, I also don't see too many points of failure, it's either its blocked or it's fine.

I would stand firm on suspecting the CTS and it's wiring or the thermostat. You can remove the wiring and see if the fan runs at full speed, or if the computer is not intelligent enough you may need to short the wiring.

The hot and cold pipes makes me think it could also be a thermostat, you can also remove it and see how the car behaves, I've had a couple fail prematurely.

Before maseboerseun jou 'n masepoesklap gee

Nou jy sien, amper noem ek jou 'n p@!s. Ekt nou net ge unwatch. ****. En maseboerseun klink soos 'n moffie mammies boy. Fokoff nou.

I have replaced the CTS and thermostat twice now. And checked the operation of the fan, which is all OK. If I remove the CTS connector the fan kicks in at FULL speed, which is what it is supposed to do.
