For those of us that love the woman in our lives, aka our Bantams this thread is for us.

A bit about mine,

bought mine brand new on 23 November 2007. Was 1.3i stock standard but added: Air-Con, Canopy, Rubber Mat, Sound System, Gear Lock. She is white, boring perhaps but easy to touch up.

Will upload a pic of her later... Fuel consumption is not as good as it should be, gonna take her in to be checked up.

She does 90KM a day. Her name is Booh-Ya

Mine is the 1.6i Base with Aircon which is one years old with 30 000km. Added is the standard bakkie tonnue cover (not the ford clipin one), rubberised bin, the standard 2 speakers with two Sony Explods added to beside the seats and a JVC frontloader (HATE FRONTLOADERS!!!) which I'll be replacing with a Mp3 shuttle of some kind. Its also got a very good towbar/backstep.

Mine is white (It was either that or black, I dont like the other colours at all) and I love the clean lines of the base models. Dont like those plastic side strips.

Its drives like a dream and seems to get 10km per litre in mixed driving.

I was driving behind a guy in his Bantam, and he had changed the lettering at the back to say Batman :D

I used to drive a Bantam and now drive around in the new Corsa bakkie, Bantams FTW. When compared to the Corsa, the Bantam is somewhat lacking in the interior aesthetics department. But externally the Bantam looks much better than the Corsa with its ugly lines.

The Bantam is more responsive, seems to pull away faster, and is just more fun to drive. It has that gokart appeal to it. Also the Bantam seems to be more sturdy and a lot tougher. The Rocam engine is good, but just be careful because I have seen a few failures occur where the engine was totally fscked, but that also depends upon how you drive it. All in all the Bantam is good.

I drive a Bantam powered car... :D

@dablakmark8 I have a copy of the service manual for the Bantam somewhere on my PC.

Send me a pm with your mail addy.

You drive an Ikon?

I sold my Bantam (various reasons) and have an Ikon now.

Might get a Bantam (in addition to my Ikon) in a years time, just for the utility of it.

@1nsane! - any chance you still have a copy of that Ford Bantam Service Manual? I'm looking for one for a 2006 Bantam 1.3iXL if you have one that would be awesome.

Our family had one in 1981, enjoyed driving it and it could seriously go on mud roads few other non 4x4 vehicles could - point and put foot.
Aaah the good old days.

Does anybody here know if a Bantam has a seperate chassis from the body or is it unibody like a sedan

I'd love to get me one in decent condition, at the book price (which is what the insurance would cover). Aint gonna happen. Only viable solution is a NP200.
