Ford Figo 1.4 Ambiente

I have a 1.4 L Fiesta 2006, which uses the same engine and is in most regards mechanically identical to the Figo.

I get around 600km on a tank. Drive reasonably and try to keep to 110 km/h max - these engines don't enjoy 120km/h.

Those could cause me to potentially succumb to road rage :o

Driving 20 in a 60 zone (no traffic infront), unless it is a big truck with a heavy load slowing it.
 
Had it for a month. Got around 500km a tank. The car lost speed very quick when i took my foot off the pedal compared to others. You just have to keep accelerating
 
I get 10km/l. And in Sandton traffic with aircon on 9km/l on Ford Figo 1.4. It's been this way since new. Wife drove first 20000km and and then handed it down to me. The some 2013 units have problems with very high fuel consumption. I did the k&n filter and decat specifically to solve the fuel consumption, but it made zero difference. 3 Ford dealerships have had a look at the computer diagnostic and gave me the finger each time. Customer Service went up to the Ford factory to get a guy out, but one finger per hand on that one.
So, moral of story - my wife now drives a new Jetta (would have been Focus), and I drive a new Honda CRV (would have been Ranger).
 
I have a Figo 1.4 Ambiente 2011 petrol model. 160000km on the clock. Full service history. Gave me 14km on the open road and about 560km with a full 45 litre tank. After the 80000 km and 100000 km service the fuel consumtion dropped to 12km/litre and then later to about 10km/litre. I get less when the aircon is on.
When I fill up the DTE reading gives me 450km max on the display. When driving average speed between 100km/h to 110km/h it suddenly drops very fast. Before I realise it gets to the 80/79km reading and then the lights come. This has been a serious propblem. Replaced filters again, replaced tank float and sensor. Computer does not pick up anything wrong with the cluster. Now what...? I keep filling up... The other thing is that it takes petrol jockeys forever to fill up my car. The petrol hose keep pushing back and blocks the fuel from entering the tank. Airlock somewhere, breather pipe issues or what? Can't go on like this. Suggestions please

What is it that drops very fast, the speed? and what lights comes on?
 
The DTE drops very quickly from full to empty and then reserve light comes on. Speed nor performance is not the issue here
 
Is it just me or is the Figo a really uneconomical car for its size? My brother works for Ford and always complains every time the car is given to him, he complains it is not fuel efficient at all.

It does not sound like a physical issue, more like it is something wrong with the trip computer. What happens if you drive for extended periods whille the fuel light is on does it reset itself?

My sister's Fiesta which the Figo is based on loses the speedometer functionality at random intervals, I would be driving the car and suddenly the speedometer will drop to zero, ignore it and it will come alive again after some time.
 
Yea.. i have taken over my fathers figo. Since he passed on 2 years ago.

Since the recent service cambelt etc. i feel she is alot thirstier than ever!!!
2012 petrol with 104 000kms
Filled 2 days ago 200bucks.. thats done.. and i guess i do drive quite a bit but never been so bad..

about 52kms in a day.

Did you do a service when a cambelt was done, perhaps wrong oil or spark plugs put it, it can affect consumption.
 
I Own a 2006 1.6i fiesta ambiente
It has the exact same motor as the 1.4i fiesta and figo, but its just a 1.6i
Duratec.

This is by far the most economical car I ever owned. The worst consumption I get is 7l per 100km, 13km/l and when i drive open road it gives me easily 15.5km/l. Ford should have dropped the 1.4i and used this 1.6i motor instead. It is super reliable, cheap to maintain and I will never sell this car. Its currently on 263000km. It is a gem of a motor. If you can find a second hand 1.6 fiesta, 2005 - 2008, buy it. Fix what is wrong on it and keep it. Fords best car ever made. I promise.

Just to add, one aspect many people forget is gear ratio's. The1.6 is paired to a gearbox wich is geared perfectly and I reckon this makes a bigger difference than anything else.

But, its a gem of a motorcar!
