Correct. One incident does not reflect the likelihood. In our country it is a frequent occurrence and one that often involves violence.

Of course. In SA, the criminals are too stupid OR lazy to disable the alarm system, they just hijack the car in the driveway.

In contrast in the 90s and maybe less so now, in Eastern Europe, wealthy Germans got their MB's pinched but they were delicatedly disabled and stolen from outside the hotel while the driver was asleep or they fell apart from the bad roads ;) - don't go over that railway crossing in that E class so quickly Mr Hans... oops. In SA it's the gun to your head, that's much easier.

The other thing is that most victims of the high crime rate are people without access to internet blogs like some apologetics and shills who post pro-ANC commentaries. They may even vote for Zuma - but they get raped, killed, mugged the most. We've even had a mobile clinic robbed at gunpoint not long ago. Guess what - no-one was arrested.

The crime from the poor areas spills over into the better ones. Crime syndicates connected with the numbers gangs in jails co-ordinate some attacks while opportunits handle the rest.

The German Jounalist who said he had a bomb in his bag outside the CTICC will appear in Cape Town magistrates Court on Monday. I think thats why he hired a lawyer to explain it was a joke because no judge will buy that coming from a German. I hope they make an example out of him to deter future bomb threat time wasters.

Indeed. Everyone on this forum should know that he's the author behind the "Kill A Whitey" blog (not sure if it is still up). I wonder if Wiz4rd and Co. will denounce him as much as they denounced the Za Sucks blog. Wait that's wishful thinking :rolleyes:

@Killadoob and Company: So if a 'few' spectators get killed, is that just going to be 'part and parcel' of the tournament? Would it be acceptable if they go to Mitchells Plain [a famous gangster area in CT] at night and get shot?
 
The problem is not the visiting supporters. They have the pleasure of the government taking extraordinary measures to protect them( something never offered to tax paying citizens of the country outside a sports tournament :rolleyes:) but the even more neglected unfortunate people living in rural areas.

Going by the average of 50 murders a day by the end of the WC 1500 South Africans will be dead. Hell during every game 2 will be killed.

But lets not get negative about minor issues like that when we got football. The Yay S.A Gestapo insist :rolleyes:
 
I heard that the people robbed in town were filming/documenting street kids and street shelters? It'd obviously be harder keeping safe in those sorts of places.

The street kids are on the streets (everywhere) in the city. They are there to beg, which they aren't going to do in a deserted alley near a shelter.

The "up town" places street kids will mostly beg at are some distance from where the shelters are located. The reporters were "down town".

Of course it is not acceptable, but it is not as if that possibility does not exist wherever the WC is hosted.

Point is, this thread is NOT about murder or rape. It is about the patent lack of major incidents of crime during the draw. Which has obviously rained on many nay-sayers' parades.
 
I think the Brazilians are also watching closely events here as their Olympic games faces worse challenges with even more bitter critics. :p

What reason do you have to believe any tourists will get killed ? We have had hundreds of sports events and tours here with zero record of anyone travelling here for sport being murdered. South Africa also has a very good record in having little to none tourist murders ever year. A far better record than Australia or the carribean or thailand for example. So why do you suggest there's an unnaceptable risk ?

Do you people honestly by now not get that murder in South Africa is something that the gross majority of the time affects certain groups in certain areas. And for a very good reason there have not become "Tourist attractions". Sheesh. It's not hard to grasp.

Oh no...there was a camera stolen from an empty car. But the usual suspects are presenting it as a traumatc "Smash and grab". When will people get tired of their spiel ?
 

Don't you need to update your kill the whites blog, or do some research into how the 11 September 2001 incident it one big conspiracy :rolleyes:
