Forum Upgrade

@ RPM i can't seem to stay logged on to the classifieds section, i log in and then go into the add i want to view but then it loses my credentials ... constant loop so i can't reply to any of the adds i like etc

WHO WAS THE TWAT who decided these colors are the BEST to use?

That would be the vbulletin developers, who set this as the default skin. As rpm has made clear on a number of occasions, this will NOT be the final skin. This will probably become clearer in the near future.

Only bug I've found is that if you click on the small icon next to the thread title to go to the first unread post in that thread, it goes to the first post on that page.

Another thing I found was on the 'Quick Navigation' dropdown at the bottom. It starts at the top of the list, while the old version would default to the currently viewed forum. Not really a bug, but it's annoying.

[-]Can't click to my profile from anywher as per normal.
Find myself having to go to my "Sent Items" or a post that I've made to view it.[/-]

EDIT: Just found the profile button to the top right :o :p
Eyes are still adjusting - even though I've scrutinised like mad lol

Also when viewing my profile, there is no "Find all threads started by S&B" only a search on all posts.

Wow! It's, er, white. Very very white! But I don't quite understand the changes. I can't really notice any improvements, so it seems to be more of a theme change than a forum upgrade.

Quick Links used to have an "All Posts" button. Where has that gone? Or are all sections included in the "What's New" tab? What's been improved?
The navigation bar changes in "What's New" so I have to click a link to go back to a specific section. That is highly annoying. How is that an improvement?
"What's New" doesn't have a preview scroll-over. Where's the improvement?
Going to subscribed threads used to be a single click of usercp - now there is no actual usercp and only a subscribed threads button that takes two clicks. How is that an improvement of anything?
I used to be able to see which threads I'd read by a single glance of the forum. Now it's just a tedious task. Again, how an improvement?
This quick reply is far too small. What's been improved?
There is no dedicated login page or at least a link to login. How is that an improvement?
There is far too much white. Again, what improvement?
It's heavier on bandwidth. How is that an improvement of anything?
I keep reading everyone's signatures because there is no distinction between sigs and actual posts. What's the improvement there?
And to top it all off, it looks disgusting on my HTC so I've stopped browsing with my cell.

All in all I see no improvements but a lot of annoyances. What's the point of upgrading if it's just for the sake of rearranging some boxes?

Yes I need that button please!

And I STILL don't know the difference between the thread icon colours, and a blank box still comes up when I hover over them to try and find out.

All these comments sums up the entire thread ... brilliant

i mentioned the photo button earlier in this thread and i see i am not able to click on it.

I wonder why there wasn't any mention of a test site or user interactions? It's a pretty bold move just to make a change like this and expect everyone to love it.

Hi Fudzy

We tested this for over a month, but we really did not have much of a choice regarding the upgrades (we need to stay up to speed with the software etc). There will however be changes to address the needs of the users...

Update:

--We installed a new mobile theme: Can you please check it in your mobile device to see if it displays correctly (should be much better than the standard theme)

--We brought the old smilies back: an overwhelming majority asked for the old smilies

Yay for new (old) smilies! Thank you :)

I know this is nitpicking, but on a dark background the smilies have pixellated white around them :(

I can live with it... Just mentioning :o

RPM would it perhaps have made people a little less anxious if they were able to participate in providing some feedback during the course of the test month (even if it meant signing up to the test forum)? Perhaps mybroadband.co.za/test/vb, or some such?

You guys probably could have prevented a lot of the moaning :P After all, one can never have too many testers :)

Are the old smilies really back? :D :p (guess not :()

Oh they are, just the old ones are cached in my browser. ;)

Yep, mobile version is much better now!

(although quoting doesn't seem to work - I postted this in reply to rpm's post, but it didn't quote it)

I'm not 100% sure it's been raised before now but I like to find all threads I've yakked in with the suitable search function ...or, at least, the one we USED to have that is now broken. All searches I do dredge up truly ancient posts and leavve me utterly bereft of anything current, which happens to be the very stuff I'm looking for in the first place!

To paraquote DJ: how is this an improvement?

...or can we hope for the %upgrade_process% to eventually catch up on older posts and the search function to work again?

Yay, the old smilies are back :D. Thanks :p.
