I can't get any useful info out of Telkom call centre so maybe someone here knows..

Is it possible to forward a call to another number once I have answered the phone. This is for a standard analogue line.. no isdn, voip, pabx etc..

my guess. no. it's just in the nature of a switched network, besides which Telkom would want to charge you (the other caller) the extra call charge.

I have the same question here. I want to transfer calls to a cell phone or other landline. Can I do that and what equipment would I need?

I'm sure you can do it!

There must be a way, but I'm guessing that It must be done Telkom side.

We had a few old numbers (old numbers), that we had FORWARDED to our new numbers, for about 3/4 months before we cancelled them.

I assume you wanna do the same thing.

But ya, Telkom had to do it - but we had to request it.

I'd suggest testing it after to see if it works.

You don't understand me. I want to transfer the incoming call - usually to a cellphone.

Once you have answered the call, its answered. You'll need a second line to 'transfer' the call...

Ditto, unless the original call was to a cellphone, or you have 2 lines, then you could play around with it a bit more.

Ooh, that's another point. Can I set it up to automatically reroute the incoming landline call to a cell number?

Perhaps first, I need to explain what I'm trying to achieve. We're a small home-based firm with a couple of people in other jobs working for us part-time and we're not in all the time. I'm setting up a server for remote DB access, but would also like to provide a more professional phone service that incoming calls can be routed to any number. At the moment, we have one landline, but the time has probably come anyway to put in a second. Obviously, budget is limited.

If you want the call to be answered, and an automatic voice system says press 1 for John, 2 for Mary, you'll need a second line and a PABX.

If you just want the calls to be forwarded to a specific cell when you are out of the office, Telkom can do that for a nominal monthly fee.

You simply punch in a bunch of numbers to activate and deactivate.
