What makes cats always so special ? " oh but my cat is allowed to walk freely and have a feces in your home / garden.
But no my dogs is not allowed outside my gate otherwise SPCA will be called. Not even to mention my dog delivering feces to some one else's garden. :erm:

P.S. I am not saying that the cat deserved it's fait.
 
My cat only takes a dump in sand and first digs a hole to deposit her load and then covers it up. As do most cats. They do not cr@p all over like dogs do.
 
Why is it that people won't let their dogs run all over the neighbourhood, but they have no problem letting their cat do so? Come on people... you should be charged with animal neglect if your cat is found dead in the road.

I don't own a cat, so i have no idea, but i own 2 jack Russels and they can climb over and get under everything, but i still manage to keep them in my yard. Last thing that i want to do is to tell little Ulrich why his dukudu " doggie " got mowed down in the middle of the road. So i take personal responsibility to ensure my pet is safe and out of harms way as much as i can, and does not cause any harm to my neighbors.
 
Would have made for an interesting experiment. Just how much room DO you need to swing a cat?
 
ja, I think it will take a little bit of training, but I am sure they can be trained to stay on the property. Having a collar on them with your details will also help. Actually keeping an eye on them is also pretty useful. Don't get a pet if you don't have the time or the will to actually look after the thing. My kids have been begging me for a pet for years now, but I am not convinced yet that we can actually look after the thing properly.
 
I had one cat that likes to stay inside and one that likes to roam....they were twin brothers. Both had their nads cut off at an early age.... one died and the house cat is still alive.

You can't train them to do anything... they just do what they want.

The world could do with a few more people willing to put in at least a little effort to look for the owners. I don't think I'll ever have the heart to carry a dead animal again without bawling my eyes out. Thanks for doing what you did.

Unless the animal is still alive, I don't think I'd have the heart to look for the owners. If it was dead, I'd probably only move it out of the road. And sadly, it's too dangerous to even just stop most of the time :/

My parents adopted the neighbours two cats after they had to move back to the UK. The lively young one got smacked by a car speeding down the road, severing its spine.

I can't recall if my dad or the gardener moved it out of the road, but there was nothing to be done, and the he had to be put down... Either way, if the gardener hadn't seen the cat getting hit, it probably would have lain there in the road until someone actually noticed it trying to drag itself away...

That's very sad :(

I have a sot spot for cats and *shudder* at thing like this. I was actually looking at houses a few months ago and the first thing I look at, is main/busy roads and how easily it would be for them to get out.

If it's not safe for the cats, I wouldn't move

I knocked one over last year. Was at night, doing about 30km/h already braking for a stop sign to turn right, I never saw it (black cat) but the passenger did. Got out, looked, it was dead, moved it to the pavement/verge. Still find it hard to believe that I killed a cat at that speed.

You can’t do this with cats (only dogs). Just hope for the best with cats. They wander.

What I can't understand is that his collar was off so I presume that some one took it, my number was on the collar and so was my wifes..... but no one phoned !

A cat’s collar now has a section of elastic so that the cat’s head can slip-out and they don’t hang themselves if the collar hooks on something. Apparently, this happens quite frequently. Maybe your cat got hung-up, slipped out of the collar and then got hit by a car. This would be a coincidence (but it’s possible) and I am sure you know about the collar [it is all pet shops sell for cats now].
