Just to wonder, I am in one of the areas which are being upgraded to 40mbps, and I have seen a few new fibre cabinets going up!!!

When do you think this project will be finished??

What will the prices be??

you wont get 40mbs with your regular adsl modem(need vdsl modem i think), but you can get 20mps sync, so check your router :P

Do we have another competition running? What is up with these weird threads?

What does the cabinet look like ???
If they are blue and green forget it .

Agreed I'm on the Olivedale exchange just down the road from fourways (less than 2 km's to be exact), and Telkom cant seem to get our exchange going faster than 256kbps with any kind of consistency. They have been "investigating" for the last 6 months.

So get ready for paying through your butt for 20-40 mbps and getting 0.5 mbps with Telkom shrugging and telling you "its their best effort" :)

Just out of curiosity, Ive seen a lot of fiber being laid on Cumberland drive in Bryanston, anyone know if its DFA or Telkom? Would be nice to have those speeds here too! :D

Whats the point of a 40mbps line when the bandwidth required to use such a speed is so expensive?

Awesome so. Products will start rolling out around that time?

You just said your friends dad is the GM of mweb jhb, maybe he would know?

He says it is up to Telkom to get the network working

From the links posted earlier:

In official Telkom correspondence, the telecommunications service provider said that only a very small number of the total broadband customers will form part of this technical testing.

Accordingly, due to the need to control the testing environment, the sample will be limited to the Telkom ISP customers,” Telkom said. “Such customers will accordingly be informed that Telkom reserves the right to reset all customers back to their original service profiles after the technical testing has been completed.”
