I have Fredd Fibre 100mbps up and down. When i run a speedtest i get pic shown below. So all good right? When i spoke to Fredd Fobre management they told me that they do not shape, soft cap or throttle their 100mbps clients at all.

So i downloaded one of my uninstalled games on steam and managed only peak usage of 6meg/s . Then another game same result...then i tried torrent and also peaks at 6.

When i had adsl 40mbps it always maxxed out at 4.3meg/s..so not sure what is going on with line. Is it normal.

Also the wifi broadcast from router is terribly slow..some pages and streams take forever? They changed my router from a Cambium 190w to a TP Link wr 841hp. Range is better...still not any better. Any ideas welcome.

Another example...sit right next to router..full signal.. try and dload an audiobook...downloads at 20k/sec...using adsl and connect to wireless it rocketed down at 4-5meg sec

Feeling Frustrated

I have spoken to tech helpline...and i get..well fibre maxing at full speed local test np.

Well, not unless you use 1TB... That is their soft cap for the 100/100 accounts, then you get dropped to 50/50. Not sure if there are any thresholds after that.

It depends on where things are set to download. For Steam, try to choose an SA source, I know MWeb has one in JHB.

The Cambium WiFi is bizzare. I could only get between 20-40 down, but 50-70 up, 2m away, and I was the only device connected. At least cabled connections were high 90's both up and down.

If you have an Android phone, download WiFi Analyzer, and see if there's anything on the same channel as your router. GENERALLY the router will try choose a channel that isn't in use, but it's not always able to these days.

They re-configured their network and removed static IP addresses with no notification or apology
Support is seriously lacking - Very difficult to get hold off.
Speeds are slow during peak times
I am trying to move to Cool ideas but it very difficult since Fredd does not respond to my cancellation request
They want me to pay a penalty even though I signed up for Month to Month and paid for installation

STAY AWAY

Hmm, so I have that to look forward to as well....

Waiting for the line to be stable for a while, then moving too.

To cancel FREDD

you need to send an email to [email protected] then phone to follow up (still doing this). The problem is the lack of feedback from Fredd with regard to anything which is why I am moving

Fredd has to confirm the last day of service

You then have to phone new ISP to ask them to tell TTconnect (Same company as FREDD) to re-configure you to point to new ISP and then take it from there

hmmmm....i also dont get much response from Fredd. Sounds like a mission just to cancel it. Sigh
