Free bandwidth after midnight

Have read all the posts and agree on most of them.

What do we want?
- Better coverage.
- Higher speeds
- Cheaper BW (I mean, R69/gig is insane these days.)

When do we want it?
- NOW

bandwidth: a rate of data transfer, throughput or bit rate, measured in bits per second
Did you mean Data Transfer ?

Let's not confuse people.
C'mon people, try to keep "statements" technically correct. :p

With all of these crazy updates from ISP, we just have to see what happens when the dust settles. The ball is in Telkoms court lets see what their reply will be (if there will be any aside from the speed bump) in terms of pricing. On behalf of all myBB members lets hope that hellkom subscribes to the "myBB make a wish foundation":D

Good news IMHO.

Just a few thoughts though, IF the trial indicates that it cannot be a free service (which it most probably will), and we'll be expected to pay for a service like this, please lets make it from 8pm to 8am. This according to me would be a better VAS (if we are going to pay for it), but right now, because it's free, I won’t complain about it.

Another kick in the balls for Web Africa... where's your Tier 1 innovation now?! Whoops, stuck in 2005... sorry
LOL! from your posts I gather u don't digg WA?
Did they skroo u over before? ... perhaps your sister? :D

Is this also for the new student packages?

Spoken with such authority... :)
You also don't have to worry about line installation, and transferring your line if you move, or if you go away you can take iburst with you. Granted, iBurst don't have the coverage that MTN/Vodacom have, but look at their data pricing.

Ye, could be quite a problem if you move 3 times a month;)

+1 - RooiGevaar, you listening?

I don't get it. They stop the 64k throttling softcap and then do this?

Response to competition. When they introduced stoppage of the softcap, MWeb hadn't introduced uncapped ADSL at such a comparatively low price.

An uncapped after midnight offering will cannibalise their other offerings. Why buy 8 or 15GB when you can be on 3-5GB and enjoy uncapped after midnight?

With this uncapped "war" going on at the moment, mostly shaped & some unshaped, are there any reports our yet (i know it's early days still) with regards to the speeds of these networks? - Have they started taking strain yet?

I have the VAS 128K throttle (usually finish cap in day 1).....So will the throttle speed be lifted after midnight?

Free but they say its gonna be a VAS (Value added system) meaning it is free ( ONLY during the trial) now just like the 64k throttle used to be ... and we all know what happened there.
Hahaha anyone dumb enough to fall for this tactic deserves to get service from Ibull*****.
Really , anyone considering to buy Iburst based upon this should really do their homework on this company and what a dissapointment they are when it comes to billing , service , pricing and the inability to respect its own promises nevermind its clients.

Iburst is over priced , their service is non existent , their technology dated.
Added onto that is the fact you dont need to be a porn star to have more uptime than them.

Sounds to me that you're describing every single ISP in SA... :p

Now get over it and realise that people and companies change. IBurst is there, because there are many variables involved with internet access. There will always be a need for wireless services like IBurst.

See for yourself. ;) http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdisplay.php?129-ADSL-ISP-Discussions

why is this on my bb first they havent sent any of us an email notification with regard to this and its not even on their website yet.

and not to be funny but what are the chances of iburst getin g this right with regards to billing?

iBurst is really trying to regain customer loyalty, not bad! Just try to avoid the billing fiasco when this new service is up and running. Similarly, try to tailor the new service to satisfafy both prepaid and contract customers or you will again be misquoted.

Theoretically you should be able to do +-20GB of data (24hrs a day) on the 64kbs, theoretically you should be able to do +-110GB of data (in an 8 hour window) over 30 days on the new uncapped model. This is over and above your excisting cap. Would be interesting to find out the thinking behind their decision.

...although our true competitors in this space are the mobile carriers with 3G

Huh? Doesn't Vodacom own 25% of iBurst? So are they now competing with themselves? Seems like there should be quite a lot of space here for collusion.

So, let me get this straight.
This is from 00:00 tonight?
And this is NOT an April fools joke?
