Free DSL modem with ADSL self-install

Free modem deal has been around since the beginning of self install. Did you guys know that? I sure didn't. It seems like not to many Telkom sales people knew either, and still don't!
The 'free' wifi router deal only started in mid-Feb (AFAIK) and it is only on offer with self-installs (SIO as Telkom calls it) till the end of March '07. I suppose there is always the possibility that they extend the offer. The current special almost seems to generous for the Telkom that we all know. ;)

U can ask 4 Telkom people the same question and get 4 different answers, so just be aware of that... u really have to know your facts when u try to get anything right with them!

If I can summarise my interpretion there are three scenarios:

1. Telkom install with no contract - You have to pay R799 for the modem + R437 for the installation
2. Self install with no contract - You get the modem for free and pay nothing for the installation.
3. Telkom install with contract - You get the modem for free, but have to pay the R437 for the installation.

*) Option 2 might not be available anymore after March 31 2007. My Telkom ADSL ISP service was switched on exactly on 31 March 2007, and I have to pay for the full month of March.

My case was supposed to be option 2, but I received a bill for my 384kbps 2GB shaped that read as follows:

Modem : R964
Financing : R58
Installation : R383.77
DSL line + ISP + line : R723.77 (March and April combined)
TOTAL : R2129.54
Incl VAT = R2427.67

@wernert: I'm still waiting to find out how things turn out since I am still waiting for them to convert me from ISDN to DSL... *sigh*
