Free MXit data on BlackBerry

lol have u tried mxit on the blackberry 8520??? it leaves much to be desired! its nothing id be advertising.

Guys just a few points i have:

- the last line reads: "On Vodacom BB users therefore get MXit data charges for free." -> is it only vodacom??

-second point, when you use the BB BIS APN all your data should be inclusive of BIS except streaming audio and video right? so then mxit data is included, doesn't matter if you use MTN or vodacom?? so the first line is irrelevant... :-|

-any1 who wants app world, even in SA point your browsers to this link >> http://tinyurl.com/l9fc5f i use it and it works, you can also update the app once it is installed

Does any1 have any inside info on when the Bold 2 (9700) will launch in SA, see a release date, 21st Oct 09 in the US

Anything browsing throught BIS is "free" since its blackberry's APN and proxied connections, so if mxit can use it, your mxit data charges are "free" over MTN and Vodacom.

Of course it doesnt apply to Vodacom as I've found since their blackberry service is such a load of rubbish you would hardly get 2 chats out before a time-out.

On another note, why did MXIT have to break the BB client? the first one worked so well, now they released an update and ever since installing it it just spends its life hanging and i have to reboot the BB to stop it. *sigh*

I found when I downloaded MXit V5.9 for BlackBerry (pretty much straight after its release) that it was FILLED with bugs. Froze my phone to the point where I had to remove the battery - I've NEVER had that problem with my BB before. (Seriously, NEVER.)

We are aware of the freeze issue. This happens during login and one scrolls through your contact list. This will be solved for the bug fix release.

Use v5.8.2 yeh same problem happened to me when I was using nimbuzz too. I hope mxit gets its act together soon and stops giving us halfed baked krap... I hope the next version for blackberry supports the facebook gateway.

Unfortunately we do not support a Facebook gateway yet. Currently we only support status updates to Facebook. The only feature needed by the MXit client is the ability to set status messages. Further one only need to add the Facebook application which is used to push your status messages from MXit to Facebook. The Facebook application can be found here: http://apps.facebook.com/mxitstatus/

Have a look at my comment above in this post with regards to the freezing issue.

We are also working on a feature where one can select your connection method, APN/BIS/BES. This should solve the connection issues with the BIS services.
