Free Socks and Proxy Server...

This always happens, I ask something and ppl run away and hide behind a dslam exchange to smoke dope while I search for a answer. :(

Telkom CANNOT FLAG these ports, for crying in a BUCKET, Clipse!

443 is as much SSL as anything else. They shape that, they're going to have a lot of whining people up their arses.

The answer (sort of) is that port 443, will prolly be on Telkoms "hi priority list" of traffic NOT to shape. However there are no guarantees, but it's likely that the route to Beep's server using port 443 will receive a higher priority than the general riff-raff of traffic on Telkom's network.

If you're still getting crap P2P speeds, then you suck at your ratios, or configuring your P2P client.

Ok I get all that, what i asked was cant I just run a proxy server on my machine itself? But I guess not, sice I have and its still slow as ...

'Cos we all know that MrBeeps's server's wont handle the kinds of loads that us p2p freaks can dish out, and I don't like abusing good ppl's stuff.
Also the socks server doesnt go.. guess there is some kind of auth. on it now.

I was hoping for a more permanent solution.

Aye, but they can flag that port to that destination once they know about it, and with the amount of traffic its been getting, the warning lights in c&c are probably going already.

hey!

I have the first batch of stats out for the server.

Over a 12 hour period, we used 15GB of Bandwidth.

I will have an average per day by Monday.

It is unlikely that Telkom will do anything to the server, because the fact remains, you guys are finishing your GB per month, meaning that you will have to buy more, making them more money.

Or they could just be spitefull..... who knows...lol

I am hoping this will become a permanent solution. I want to make it an open server for people, but bandwidth costs is a factor as someone pointed out. I do NOT want to profit from this, as I am not in the ISP industry.

So if we can work out some sort of solution like donations and stuff. Just let me know where you want to go with this. It's our service. No-one owns it.

Thanks,
MrBEEP

Is it possible to use this socks/proxy to get Skype working properly. I entered the Socks info into Skype, but it does not make any difference to (incoming) voice quality.

They already have a load of whining ppl up their asses and even tho ssl works over this port, they can still flag this port to be protocol shaped, so that proxy traffic is shaped.

Hey!

A new server is now running here!

Hope it improves speeds!

No, it was supposed to just replace the link that I had up.

No change required on your side.

Thanks
Keoma

All i get is

[02:19:06] *** Connecting to heaven.total-anime.net:411...
[02:19:09] *** The socks server failed establish a connection

Thats from rmdc++

Is it me?
It was working earlier today.

Edit:
Its working.. I guess it was just my comp being a lil stuck on ports or something.. (I unplugged the network cable and held it over a lil bucket to catch the evil blocking data :P)

Glad its working for you.

The server does still require alot of work, but I am currently working on the website.

This project has been baptised as the OpenWeb Project!

Site should be up today or tomorrow.

Thanks,
MrBEEP

Well Done!

Havent tried the service yet, will be trying tonight.

Have to admit that i take my hat off to you beebs.

Think you should still have a payment method as not to lose money.

Maybe just forward the amount costs directly onto the ppl using the service?

Just an idea.

Amazing how protective ppl get when they hear about such a good thing!!

Clipse - ;)

don't worry
telkom wont do nutting!!!!!

they use ssl themselves!
hehehe

erm ok if you guys feel so strongly that the reason I oppose the public listing of this free proxy is directed at my proxies, then I can only *shrug* .

Hey since everyone is thinking it cost alot to host overseas, you can get from www.sagonet.com a hosting box and 750GIG transfer included for R600 a month.

so, if its so cheap then how come nobody has done this before?

any word on local capping yet? i suppose not, but if local capping does occur then we are a tiny bit more screwed. cant use nukecap either then for wow when you are capped

no one is doing the international proxy, since it doesnt help with being capped, atm you can use it when uncapped to increase you speeds with p2p clients it seems, but once your capped its of no use.

Personally I have no p2p slowdowns and i dont see how this works, but then again some people say its helping them.
