Free to play mmorpg

Anyone else having problems with STO game launcher. It keeps trying to update the launcher then an error that says the patch client got an error while it was in a state of no response. I've tried verifying game cache in steam and a couple of other fixes I found with google none of them work.

I had that with the non-Steam version. Read up on all kinds of "fixes", but none of them worked. The only way I finally got the game working was to download the Steam version. No idea what to do if it's the Steam version doing it though...

I know this may be rather painful, but if Steam is giving an issue, you could try download the client straight from the STO website?? You don't need to worry about Steam keeping the game updated as all steam does is launch the STO launcher.

Next best bet would be to get someone preferably nearby to get you the installation files and just dump that into your steam/steamapps/common directory....
 
I am up and running, but was informed by one of you on STO that "ufonik" is infact the incorrect name that i am supposed to specify for you to add me...

What name must i specify?

Type something in /local ,the part including and _after_ the @ will be your acc name for invites ie mine is emmett@theoriginalwulf

You should be able to add based on just your underlined section as well though??

PsyWulf are you part of a Fleet?? The reason for asking is whether it's not worth creating a thread for those who would like to be in an African fleet. I am part of a fleet who abondoned me. Sadly I'm not the creator and thus can invite, but there are too many limitations to want to invite others to my Fleet.

A new fleet would probably be the best way to go, but we need 5 players in order to do so....

Sorry, i didnt quite understand what you were saying in the post above... Monday blues are stopping my brain from processing anything until about 3pm today :P

That is correct, however we should still be able to add you with just @carstensdj. I am @DKEV, my character handle varies depending on the character I log on with.

Im playing with a Vulcan Scientist, Lieutenant 3 (i think, lol. Still figuring the game out...)
 
Just dowloaded STO off their official torrent (3.7gig), now patching 952mb. My threshold has been exceeded and WA let me know via mail hehehe.

Yea i did this about a week ago... Was all ready to play and then saw the 952mb patch :( Im on the 8ta 10GB promo, so luckily i still had enough bandwidth to update as well...
 
I've finally got STO to work downloaded the stand alone and it works. When you log in it tells you to choose between perfect world or cryptic. What is the difference and which one are you guys on.

I was also unsure, but i just chose "Perfect World" and everything seems to be working fine for me...

I also just took perfect world.
All right just need to do a one gig update then I can play.
 
First impressions of STO .. I fired her up and thought meh, waht outdated graphics ... then I realised my resolution was set at 1024x768 ... fiddled with that, did the tutorial and all I can say is oh wow, I am hooked and BF3 is going to take a back seat for the next few days.

Lol, and if you're keen enough to become part of a fleet, let me know... we're trying to create a SA fleet :)
