Well, a dead goat or not, the fact is that i am happy to pay for decent services. The vlive internet was usually slow. not willing to pay for that

Okay, now i do believe that free wap is still possible, I seen it happen, but it wont work for me... Maybe i just dont want it bad enough... OR maybe its just some handsets/sims.

BUT what is the implications of this free wap?

Will The paying members be experiencing slower speeds?

Will this free wap/web mean ppdbs will take even longer to me immenently activated?

you people really AINT getting it are you... if Vodacom thinks the Goat is dead then it will leave it alone!!!!!!!! now you have to keep on telling everyone the goat is alive!!! so what will vodacom do? biting your noses to spite your face.

The way i see it, if they plug the hole i wont use it so i will sleep better.

I will also sleep better as some day you will thank me.

Some ppl rumoured to get free wap using the vodacom mms apn

As I've explained before, the 'free' internet was due to Vodacom not billing in certain situations. This was fixed a while ago.

We've had a few reports of people still claiming they can browse for free but all of these turned out to be false, i.e. the subscriber was actually being billed.

I'm willing to put a bet on this :)

Whoever can prove to me that there is still a way to not be billed will get a once-of 1Gb data bundle added to his account, at my expense! But, if you're wrong, you buy me a beer!

You have to prove it, can't be hear-say. I'll get the engineers to look into it with you. This offer qualifies for every unique report, i.e. if you have more than one distinct answer, you get a 1Gb bundle for each. Don't PM me with the same thing a thousand times! And use the how-to-PM-Vodacom3G template.

First-come, first-served!
(The judges' (me) decision will be final!)

if i know 3 ways does that mean i can get a 3Gig bundle??? and it is a clever way of vodacom plugging holes by bribing us to show them to vodacom... the thing is that they could probably exploit the holes for more than 1Gig... so what incentive is that really??

I seem to be attacked all over, AND guess what, those who do attack me comes off worse as its their blood pressure going up and all, NOT MINE ;P

@L8te u seem to be one of those server farm ppl, gt a life, free web is not all life is about, maybe its a good thing that its no longer free, so that some of thos addicts can actually get a life!

If you use the vlive apn you'll get slower speeds regardless as it goes through the proxy which was always overloaded. If you want faster speeds then use the internet apn without the proxy. If you're on the pc however then use the vlive apn with the proxy and say goodbye to spyware.

The goat is on its last legs. Vodacom is just ironing out the bugs if there are any left so it doesn't matter what people say or do not say. If we were talking about a different way and not the standard way then it would be another matter.

I think there is still away and if Vodacom says there isn't one then they already made the number one fundamental mistake. I'm not willing to bet on this yet as I don't know anything and even if I did why would I give it up for 1GB that I have to use within a month.
using the mms.vodacom.net apn gives free (BUT NOTORIOUSLY SLOW) gprs
FALSE, gives errors with or without 196.6.128.13 on all browsers.
Wise-@ss! Just for you, I'll throw the launch of PPDB in!
We have it!!! An admission that Vodacom is just stretching this out to torment people. :D

LMAO, Go vodacom3g! Nice way to plugg all the holes ,aint it?
Will see if I can get a 'free' 1GB bundle, only 30 days to use it though...

"using the mms.vodacom.net apn gives free (BUT NOTORIOUSLY SLOW) gprs"
Tried this a LONG time ago,did NOT work then.....for me anyways
MTN the same, VM even have a direct block for this.

Since this does not work, WHY are you making such a big deal of it?

You see the fact is, you are too bloody stingy to pay for what you want... A shame ppl who dont deserve this is gonna get hurt by this.

There is still a way

Hey all,

Sorry i am going on about Vlive again but just to let y'all know there is still a way to access vlive for free. I don't use it as i am on Virgin Mobile now. and please don't PM me on how to do it. PLZ!! because i won't tell you. So V3G there is still a loophole. V3G seeing as you are getting charged R2/mb without using the loophole, VC might aswell just unblock DNS restricting on vlive and make it a normal APN like the 'internet' APN. well just opinion?

Not with you, DNS restriction?

BTW, you're right, there still is a way to get free internet. Amazing what Google will produce! Just tried it and it works....

Now the moral question; do I give myself a 1Gb bundle?

They all have a direct block for it as a matter of fact. The apn blocks all ips other than the proxy and the proxy blocks all non-mms data. A double fail-safe which should have been used with vlive. But instead Vodacom used their standard proxy which allows access to all sites. A real dumb@ss move actually which allowed the cat to get in the bag until it started biting and scratching.

Anyone on VM up for an interesting laugh try opening something through 196.31.116.242 on the vmms apn.

He means ip restriction as in 196.6.128.12. ;) Don't do that. It's actually useful. Saved me from a lot of spyware.

LOL. Don't go searching for it anyone. It's not actually on google as I don't think it's posted anywhere. Came across this thread however which says some guy called Rhino sold it to a Vodacom "tech" for 1GB of data. Quite funny actually. Also came across instructions for free MTN internet. Unfortunatly my MTN sim expired so I can't test it now.

Well it seems like some people actually bought their vlive branded phones for the free wap as they thought that is what Vodacom was offering. Now no one wants the branded phones anymore. Vodacom can just as well stop branding their phones now and tell people how to get rid of the s**t.

Vlive Handsets

The problem being is that people thought that the service Vodacom deliver's to vlive branded phone's is free wap browsing coz that's the idea you get when you visit the web page and there is written "Browse for free and pay for what you download" there's no text that say's go to the disclaimer section and read that browsing the Vlive portal is free and when you browse the internet you pay??? why do they block third party cell phone's apps in anyway's then?? I think that Vodacom should correct their mistake by airing it on television or Via the website self.

My Point is why buy a vlive phone then in anyway's to get the logo??? NO
To have a free service offcorse.

The I can just aswell use my normal apn and normal phone and browse the vlive wap page coz you cant browse it in anyway's without airtime soooo WOT"S FREE.
