Well... seeing as I only get GPRS speeds on it, it'll take a long time to add up to 10 Grand  besides I have two simcards remember? :D:

2 seperate cell numbers or do u have twincall? If you have a twincall your billing will be on your primary number...

hehe but i wud keep quiet bout it.. definitly wudnt flaunt it...Network will always catch on..

If I connect to vodacom4me using a Vodacom data card, do I get charged for the internet activity, ie does it bite away at my bundle?

Yes, it would.

On any APN (except VLive) you pay for the data received and transmitted.

On Vlive, you don't pay for browsing the VLive portal, if you browse away from the VLive portal you'll pay your normal internet APN rates, i.e. the standard contract or bundle you're on.

There's obviously a hole in one of the firewalls at the moment that the guys are exploiting. Will probably be plugged soon, actually thought it was plugged long ago.....

This is actually nothing new guys - I've had free internet on my TopUp contract for over 6 months. I had a very guilty concience and i opened a topic on it way back - v3g even said he would look into it... but so far no change :D
And the way i figure it - if you have notified them of the problem and they still don't fix it then they obviously aren't worried if you use it as much as you like...

Dunno, they'd get worried if 50000 3G users suddenly started running Emule 24/7.

or are in the process of fixing it.....

Just took longer than what I though, ambo. but did report it when we first spoke.

Would like to know if it's still possible.

yep 2 no.'s...

Anyway like most good things that come to an end, my free connection breathed it's last this morning... :(
Farewell O bearer of free bytes, may we meet again on a better connection :D

you do know you are one of the biggest idiots in the world... Right? You could have had a fastish connection for free. I still believe prices in this country is too expensive... Anyways V3G, what happened at 9:30?

Some firewall changes were made.

Just to put this into perspective, we've known all along about this "hole', even discussed it on this forum. As ambo stated above, we've been talking about it for a month or three. So it's not like there was this big secret on how to hack the system to get free internet.....

It's only with a specific set of parameters that we did not bill for data usage, (but have been logging it, b.t.w.). It seems a few forumites had this specific setup, but this was expected.

Due to new systems being deployed, it was decided not to put a tempory resolution in place but rather deploy once.

Around 9:30?
Can't be sure of the exact time..
I was away from my laptop most the of day,
This morning around 8:00 I was surfing with Opera Mini on my cellphone via vlive, all cool and free ;) around 11:00 I tried to connect again, but all I got was "There's a problem with the connection" :( ... normal vlive is still working as normal..
Soon as I got back home (around 4:00 pm) I tried to connect with my laptop (i.e. my second sim card) and oh rats ... same thing..

Why yes... that would be one of my failings

Wouldn't go so far as to say that ;) , the speeds I was getting were rather slow - sitting mostly around 3.6KB/s - hardly GPRS

You mean "Opera Mini"? Still not working (you aren't surely expecting it to start working again are you?) ... I did just notice though using the builtin mobile browser I can actually still connect to some mobile sites at no charge (eg. vodacom4me, gmail mobile login etc..)

I echo your sentiments :p in the first place if I never mentioned it here you'd never have known about it anyway :p

Now i'm wondering, you say you have been logging it what exactly does that meen? The reason i'm asking one of my friends doesn't pay for his 3G, will vodacom be billing him for all the data he used cause he's had the free 3G for about 8-10 months now and even when not using it to it's full potential in that amount of time you can transfer a lot of data and that would be quite a shocker of a bill if vodacom bill's him for all that in one month.
