Macron ahead in my ward too. It has been the wars of an independent right candidate for close to 30 years.

Though the second round promises to be tight, they have less than 2% difference.

Only 50% voted...not exactly a ringing endorsement of anyone really.

But glad Macron appointed a PM from the Republicans...

The participation has always been lower at the parliamentary elections than at the presidential and it's a declining tendency since 1997.

The explanation i heard is that the presidential campaign has been the most hectic we ever had and that people are tired of campaigns.

Hopefully it stops next Sunday.

In the northern province of France, there is no socialist candidate qualified for the second round (it's a very socialist area and ex huge coal mining area). It's the first time it happens since 1885.

Macron's party on course for big majority in French parliament

(CNN)French President Emmanuel Macron's centrist party looks poised to score a decisive victory following Sunday's second round of parliamentary elections, voting projections suggest.

Macron's La Republique En Marche party and its political ally, the Mouvement Démocrate (MoDem), are likely to win between 373 and 403 seats in the 577-seat lower house, according to forecasts from CNN's French affiliate BFMTV.

That margin of victory would give Macron, a pro-European centrist, the large majority he craves to further his political revolution -- and would inflict a further blow on the country's traditional ruling parties. The conservative Les Républicains and their allies trailed with about 107 to 127 seats, according to BFMTV.

President Emmanuel Macron's political rise has been given another boost after his centrist parliamentary coalition claimed a landslide 350 seats out of a total of 577.

This was formed by his own young party, La République En Marche! (REM), in alliance with the Democratic Movement (MoDem).

National Front only got 8 seats. :crylaugh:
