CAPE TOWN – Students illegally occupying a University of Cape Town (UCT) building in Mowbray are still refusing to leave.
The students are part of the Rhodes Must Fall movement, which started their mission to campaign for transformation at the university more than two months ago.
University management has ordered the group to leave Avenue House, but they say they are staying put.

Students illegally occupying the UCT building in Mowbray say they are using the space to run the transformation movement Rhodes Must Fall.
Inside the picturesque Avenue House, students are quietly going about their business.
Occupying student Alex Hotz said a UCT investigating officer conducts daily inspections at the house and takes down the names of those staying there.
She said they refuse to move unless management meets their demands.
“We are calling for radical decolonisation of the university.”
UCT staff who worked in the house have been relocated to the building next door.
