Fresh earth idiocy

Anyways, its fine, I just thought a company like Fresh earth actually knew enough to not advertise flour as gluten free when it was not.

Well they have obviously stopped doing so now.

Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a case of a fridge event and possible litigation that just had them add it to the packaging as a fail safe.

Have you tried Lions Mane mushroom? My son has Crohn's and it reduced his pain and discomfort by 90%

Have tried just about everything and nothing works quite as well.

Never heard of it but will certainly go have a look as it’s always nice to have more options.

The gluten and lactose free life isn’t for me so I take my chances where I can doing small quantities with the odd cappuccino etc.

I still stand by my point.

If I don't want to or cannot consume wheat/gluten etc, how is that anyone else business? How am "I" hurting "you".

Someone with legit medical condition who will tell you all your symptoms are bull**** unless you have an actual allergy.

And if you had a legit allergy we wouldn’t be having a casual conversation while you had your reaction.

I mostly get the bloating, headaches, pins and needles, and mild dermatitis herpetiformis, and constantly tired which luckily isolated to select fingers, but I have noticed it is spreading to other areas now, while I don't get the normal bad rashes some people do I usually end up with extremely itchy skin without rashes, and really bad insomnia.

Sadly I am a sucker for any thing with gluten and particularly hard to cut it out, when living rural as well.

Don't come here with your snowflake made up symptoms.

:p

Have you ever actually been tested for it? Or are you confirmed allergic and therefore the comment?

Many people use this symptoms as a guideline to make the issue fit but there could be a great many other things causing the symptoms.

Which is why I generally tell people to STFU up unless they’ve been medically declared as allergic or even just intolerant.

It very well could be gluten no doubt about that. But be absolutely sure, don’t just assume.

Have you tried ferments like sauerkraut and kimchi? kefir? or would those be bad for crohn's.

In generally quite stable and it’s not like I’m at a lack of having things to eat.

Generally not a fan of sauerkraut and I’m yet to attempt to make kimchi.

I’m a bit of a foodie so will in most cases risk anything once until I’m dead sure it’s no good.

Like popcorn. I can’t touch the stuff now. Fortunately I was never really a big fan probably because my body told me indirectly it’s not working.

I generally apply threshold logic. As in you can eat some cheese and be fine or fine enough but don’t be an idiot and vreet the whole block combined with a seed loaf etc.

Even oats I can handle once a week in a morning breakfast quantity.

Also the Nutribullet is awesome for putting stuff in your body that alternatively makes crap (literally). So all the evil fibre green stuff I drop in there.

Over time and trial and error you learn what to kind of watch for. Last time I was truly man down and caught offsides was with a pork belly and some liberal drinking which I hadn’t done in a while.

If I hit a really bad patch there is always the Mary Jane alternative remedy. :)

If it's that bad for you to have it, why is it so hard for you to stop ingesting it?

Partly my annoyance with the "gluten free" crowd. You'll never see people with actual diseases taking the things that messes them up.

There's different degrees to the symptoms and discomfort. Just because someone doesn't appear to be on the verge of dieing doesn't mean they aren't legitimately gluten or lactose intolerant. It affects way more people then you might realise.

Look mate the symptoms are pretty mild all things consider with the exception of itching skin and insomnia, I love my gluten based foods but I do limit the intake to much smaller portions, don't eat as much bread as I use to and substitute with potato.I love pasta but trying to switch to rice noodles and such. But I am not going to spend 100's of rands on gluten free flour. If it gets to the point where it gets really bad I will switch over entirely.Right now can live with it and manage a reasonable intake.... ;)

There certainly are and I don’t discredit legitimate symptoms at all.

But it’s very often a mental case more than a real one such as when people get in gluten
unknowingly and yet don’t have symptoms.

Or the opposite when they think they are getting lactose but they aren’t yet have symptoms.

And pretty much every human is lactose intolerant. It’s just a matter of degrees.

A lot of people also think that they are affected because of some unrelated incident and then incorrectly diagnose themselves for the rest of their lives.

My dad for example drank spirits once back when he was young. He had a bad experience (throwing up) and never touched them again for the rest of his life. His reasoning was that spirits does not agree with him so he has only drank beer ever since.
