Hi all. I need some good advice as these companies are giving me the proverbial finger...

During Jan/Feb 2018 Frogfoot started to install fibre main lines in the Cape Town, TableView area.

On the 26th of Feb I came home to my front lawn on my property, that was totally destroyed by workers who seemingly could not care.

After empty promises by Frogfoot I waited most of the winter and finally decided to have paving installed as I knew that my lawn would never recover again.
This cost me many thousands as paving is in high demand in the Western Cape due to the drought.

About a week ago NanoFibre came by to install a line for my neighbor.
They ended up cutting the shape of a drunk snake out of the tar next to my driveway, and then the following day some other guys came and did the cheapest repair job I have seen on tar.
By summer this so called repair, will be just gravel lying around an open drunk snake shaped ditch!

Yesterday more guys from Last Mile Telecoms (Frogfoot contractor) arrived here as there was a problem to get a fibre line to the black box on my property.
After trying several methods one of the guys told me that he was sure that the paving installers had crushed the tube while compacting the soil and that they are going to have to break apart my brand new paving that I recently paid thousands of Rands for!

I very very very reluctantly agreed as it seemed like he knew what he was talking about, but watched the process...
The moment they pulled out the tube I could see that it was NOT crushed!
What happened was that the guys from EdgeFibre had broken off a piece of fibre in the tube and then tried to force another piece in next to it, and this blocked the tube.

I have been emailing, calling, you name it and I am just being ignored regarding my broken paving and the messed up tar driveway...

The moral of the story is that the pavement doesn't delong to you.
You are only supposed to look after it on behalf of the council.
I would wait a year until all these ding-dongs are done with their damage, then do it over how you want it.
You just need a bit of patience.

I agree just wait it out.

Doesn't mention paving specifically, just lawn. Is it outside property or inside OP?

Thats the thing. Its not on the pavement.
According to my building plans they are inside my erf lines.

Just started a thread with a similiar issue in West Beach... Going to call the local newspapers on Friday.

Just last week I reported an issue to Frogfoot. The paving next to a fibre "manhole" on my pavement, had collapsed into a sink hole. They fixed it the very next day. I am in Sunningdale, TableView.

Call Frogfoot and ask for Kayleigh (sp) in complaints.

Then you be a real bastard about it. Insist that they more all their schit outside your property line. Then insist that they fix what they damaged on your property.

I dont think you guys quite understand the level of arrogant with these guys. A week ago I spoke to a guy called 'Kaai', an area manager of Frogfoot and he is still coming round to my place.

When I discussed the matter with a guy from EdgeFibre while they were busy with the box on my property, he was talking to me like I was something the cat dragged in; and was still shouting out the window as he was driving away about how guys like me just make life difficult for them.

They apparently have some agreement with council which allows them to act like the godfather...

After reading this, starting to feel grateful that Vuma setup camp here. They actually did a fairly respectable job in my area.

Call them up and give them a deadline to sort out their crap, inform them that if they do not execute accordingly you will be getting some quotes in from contractors to build a new boundary wall and will) be insisting on having 1 meter deep foundations as you plan to landscape their mess and need soil retention. All legal, but a bitch for them to handle.

Good morning

We thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our team was on site to investigate yesterday and we are glad you are happy with the reinstatement of the pavement. As discussed with Kaai, he has advised on the process going forward and we hope to resolve this as soon as possible.

We apologise for the inconveniences caused during this process.
Regards

Yes, Thanks, I am finally glad to say that my paving has been fixed, and Kaai/Frogfoot did promise to make sure that the tar also gets fixed in a proper and long term manner; so lets see.
I will report back here.
This could have been sooo much less of a painful process if there was just better communication and quality work done from the start.

You people seem to be doing this everywhere you go. Have 3 work colleagues who have told me how you have royally ****ed up their driveways and lawns in front of their properties. Yes it belongs to the council, but its still a dick **** move to **** up with no regard what people have spent money on because they take pride in their surroundings and have chosen to improve that area in front of their properties. This is the reason I told SADV to piss off and skip my house. Will rather pay a premium to use Openserve infrastructure than support companies like you and SADV.

Are you going to add any value to this thread? Or are you just going to make a noise as per the last one which needed to be closed as everyone was taking the piss at your logic.
