Same as Conack, we live in the same area of George. I can't use the internet as it buffers and loading anything like webpages feel like old dial up, you literally see the picture downloading on mybroadband.
With that said, i'm the only one on the network with only my computer running on the network. Wife's phone is turned off, tv's any devices that may use the connection. International latencies are over 1000ms-2000ms.
This seriously can't be a thing we just " have to deal with " because we're on FTTH ? I don't use the connection between office hours, when i get home it's unusable!
Fingers crossed then...
Believe me i know it is. It's more that we need them to admit and do something about it.So there's your answer. Congestion.
Good Day,
Please note that Frogfoot is currently aware of a capacity issue on the backhaul between George and Cape Town. This is due to the unprecedented growth on our George network.
We are currently working with our Vendor to upgrade the capacity. We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to mitigate the impact to services as soon as possible and will provide progress updates as and when we receive them.
We apologies for the inconvenience caused.
#1 So there are no systems in place to alert Frogfoot infrastructure techs that there's major congestion - with problems starting around 30 days ago, steadily getting worse until it's a colossal f-up now, without alerting anyone? And even when several clients alerts them, with detailed graphs, no one reacts?
#2 In which case, nothing prevents this from just happening again in a month's time, and it could take another month of emails and phone calls, being treated like an idiot call after call, being asked to do endless speedtests, being sent logs by a Vox engineer which magically shows 0 packetloss from 1000 pings (while that is clearly BS), Then have the Frogfoot ticket CLOSED yet again, leaving me trying to explain to supposed support engineers what packetloss and congestion is?
#3 If myself and a few others didn't make a scene and email a bunch of engineers on Frogfoot side as well as Vox (on almost a daily basis with logs clearly showing congestion) we still would have been sitting here with no ETA and nothing getting done - not even an open ticket with Frogfoot on Vox's behalf?
-I JUST received an sms from Vox: Congrats, we logged a call to our upstream provider. Expect some feedback, in 72hrs. Not fault resolution, no, just Feedback. [Even for Telkom - known for the worst service, this would be unheard of. More than a month to get a fault resolved, not that it's even resolved now]
That's right. There wasn't even an open call to them because the previous one was closed after they inspected it and found NOTHING wrong.
Had a Vox support agent log into the mikrotik one evening and triumphantly tell me over the phone "I just did a ping on the router sir, all 4 pings were successful."
I can rant a lot more, but I'm just really done... This has ruined every night and most weekends for a really long time, and promises to do so for a whole bunch more.
Unbelievable.
Which area are you from?My 20/20 Frogfoot line struggled last night around 9pm. 4K youtube buffered, android app downloads went line speed the one moment and a few minutes later the same app install reported that it is going to take 31 minutes to download 47MB. Speedtest yielded about 4mbps and Fast.com 1.2mbps.
Switched over to Telkom LTE for a few hours and everything was 100%.
Do you guys use pingplotter or something to record line performances?
I searched for something free, lightweight and straight forward without requiring administrator access (like Pingplotter) and discovered:

It seems like most of Frogfoot issues comes from Cape Town. I Live in PTA, and my line has been without fault for months now.
Really hope your issues gets sorted out
For future reference, the project is hosted on Github: https://github.com/bp2008/pingtracerI searched for something free, lightweight and straight forward without requiring administrator access (like Pingplotter) and discovered:

We are jsut getting connected to FF now (Garsfontein) .. hope whatever issues they have dont start this sude
What ISP are you on if i may ask?
I am on Vodacom, not by choice though the Landlord chose Vodacom for some reason and we can't change as we are locked in a 24 month Contract.
97% of the time we don't have problems. The biggest problem I have is that they throttle you to 2mbps after 1TB of use, sadly nothing I can do about that until the contract duration is over
Eina that sucks.... and 2mbps is relatively easy to reach on Fibre. Im hoping we are not locked in by the complex and can choose any provider
