FTTH prices: Vodacom vs Telkom

And MTN will be very similar too.Thank goodness they aren't the only players otherwise we would see the usual pricing nonsense.

Telkom is putting in 4000 lines for vodacom :D
Vodacom has thrown Telkom a bone while they try to get the Neotel deal through ,
i hope they are wise to this .

Over 5 meg and it's not about the speeds, you fsking muppets. It's about the cap. And to quote the great Patches O'Houlihan, a grand for 50gig a month it about as useful as a c0ck flavoured lollipop.

LOL at all these telcos with the same old uncompetitive price fixing behaviour while the other players charge next to nothing.

Who charges next to nothing?

The only "too good to be true" one seems to be 123Net

And Vumatel. Why do you see it as too good to be true?

Vumatel's pricing at the higher speeds (excluding their 4Mb/s deal) is not much cheaper than Telkom/Vodacom.

Cheaper yes - It certainly isnt next to nothing..

I disagree. They have relatively cheap uncapped ISP packages. MTN and Vodacom's packages with their measly caps are already more expensive so it's a case of comparing apples and oranges here. They are in a completely different league to these wannabes. It's also their lower speed offers that make fibre affordable to the masses.

When will they realize 50GB will no longer be sufficient at those speeds. 50GB should be the minimum and cheapest option with bigger caps to uncapped

I agree for me it does not suffice, but lower caps do still have a market. The key is to get high fibre uptake if you are trenching an area, which requires a lower entry-level to sign up as many as possible.

This uncompetitive behavior is beyond comprehension! Prices keep going up. Somehow they know that business will keep coming :wtf:

Will not even look at these options until they offer uncapped packages. 50GB.. I'd go through that within a few days.

Did you see the size of the game updates? Actually 50 gig leaves very little data after my Phones updates are a gig then the tablet then my wife's phone and laptop. Then we can start updating the apple TV in the lounge , the roku in the bedroom. Now I can start using YouTube, actually I can't because my 50 gig cap is finished.

All the different apps on all these devices want to update every month.

Just have acceptable OOB rates or bundles already! That way they can cover the overheads for the month, which is fair. But to add an extra 50 GB to an account should be small change!
